Citat:WASHINGTON — The United States is said to have disclosed that Saudi King Abdullah was dying.
Diplomatic sources said the administration of President Barack Obama relayed a photograph that showed Abdullah with a breathing tube, Middle East Newsline reported.
The sources said the photograph was taken by White House personnel during Obama’s meeting with the Saudi king outside Riyad on March 28.
“The photograph was a message by the White House that Abdullah is going down and so is the rest of the family,” the source said.

Saudi Arabia is setting new terms in the Gulf’s relationship with its wayward neighbor. But will Doha bridle at the deal?
http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2014/04/22/m....._diplomacy
Citat:Last week, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar agreed on a framework meant to patch up the other Gulf states' disagreements with Qatar on a range of regional political issues.
Citat:Qatar agreed to a list of demands made by its three neighbors that, if Doha fully complies, will deal a heavy blow to the Muslim Brotherhood across the region. But Gulf capitals are skeptical whether Doha will make good on its promises: After all, if Doha fulfills the terms of the agreement, it will mean the reversal of a decade's worth of strenuous and expensive efforts to create a web of influence across the Middle East and North Africa.
Citat:The demands to which Doha has agreed were the same demands it had rejected before the Gulf ambassadors' withdrawal last month. Amid Qatar's refusal to sign the document, the three countries threatened to escalate, reportedly considering trade sanctions and closing their airspace and land borders with the emirate. Influential Gulf writers even suggested that military action was not off the table. After Qatari Foreign Minister Khalid al-Attiya signed the deal on Thursday, the Gulf countries will now give Doha a two-month "probation period" for compliance before sending back their envoys.

Saudis Invite Iran Foreign Minister to Talks
http://www.defensenews.com/article/20140513/DEFREG04/305130035/
Citat:DUBAI — Saudi Arabia has extended an invitation to Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to visit the kingdom, Reuters reported today.
According to analysts, the invitation is an indication that political hardliners within the Saudi government have stepped back and allowed for moderates to push their agenda.
Today, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal told a news conference that Zarif had been given an invitation to the kingdom but that despite Iran’s past declarations of a wish to improve ties, the visit had not transpired. He did not say when Riyadh issued the invitation or if Iran had formally responded, Reuters reported.
Kako se vidi je Saudijcima jasno da Ameri sa Iranom misle ozbiljno. Iran čeka. Mislim da će doći tada kada bo tajming u vezi pregovora. Tema Sirija naravno sigurno jedna skoro najvažnija.

Saudi Defense Leaders Replaced By Moderates
http://www.defensenews.com/article/20140518/DEFREG.....-Moderates
Citat:The changes, first reported by state news agency SPA, involve the deputy defense minister, the chief of General Staff and the heads of the Air Force and Navy, among others.
Prince Salman bin Sultan was removed from his post as deputy defense minister “upon his request,” SPA said, citing a royal decree.
He was replaced by Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, the governor of Riyadh.
The outgoing deputy minister is a son of the late Crown Prince Sultan, who served as a defense minister for nearly five decades.
SPA said King Abdullah also removed the chief of General Staff, Gen. Hussein al-Qabeel, who was retiring, and replaced him with Gen. Abdurahman al-Bunyan.
The reshuffle has centered around the current minister of the National Guard, Prince Mutaib bin Abdullah.

Tough lesson of Qatar rift: GCC members should compromise
http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/qatar/tough-lesson-o.....-1.1325194
Citat:Dr Abdullah (Dr Abdul Khaleq Abdullah, a leading Emirati analyst), however, warned the 33-year legacy of the GCC experiment was about to be recklessly ruined, in a scenario he described as was going from bad to worse.
He said Qatar has to choose between two options: The Muslim Brotherhood or the GCC.“I believe the Qatari leadership has opted for choosing the GCC,” he said.
Tek sada je GCC počeo da da ovoj organizaciji suštinu i odmah veliki problemi.
