North Korea fires another 30 short-range missiles into sea
Citat:North Korea fired another 30 missiles into the ocean on Saturday, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said, the latest in a series of launches that have provoked criticism from Seoul and Washington.

The short-range missiles are estimated to have flown about 60 km and were fired between 4 a.m. and 6:10 a.m. from the North’s east coast into the Sea of Japan.

The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that two missiles were launched from the Sukchon region at 02.35 and 02.42 local time respectively. It added that the launches were in violation of "UN Security Council Resolutions [UNSCR] 1718 (2006), 1874 (2009), 2087 (2013) and 2094 (2013), which prohibit North Korea from all activities related to ballistic missile programmes."

South Korean Ministry of National Defense spokesman Kim Min-seok told reporters that based on their speed and range, it was believed they were Rodong (also known as No Dong) missiles, which have a range of between 1,000 and 1,500 km.

Ostrvo Jeonpjeong je na južnoj strani granice koju su odredile Ujedinjene nacije posle tri godine Korejskog rata, završenog 1953. godine. Severna Koreja tu granicu osporava.

Poslednji okršaj dve Koreje dogodio se 2010. godine, kada je Severna Koreja bombardovala jedno južnokorejsko ostrvo. Poginule su četiri osobe.

Citat:SEOUL, March 31 (Xinhua) -- South Korea has evacuated border island residents amid the live-fire drill of the Democratic People 's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Yonhap news agency reported on Monday.

The DPRK declared a no-navigation zone in waters near the western maritime border earlier in the day, banning ships from sailing near the Northern Limit Line, or the disputed sea border.

The DPRK warning was seen as a hint that it will conduct firing exercises with rocket-propelled artillery guns near the tense maritime border.

The DPRK has recently moved troops and artillery weapons near Pyongyang, in a move believed to be preparation for a large-scale fire power drill, a military source said Monday.
