Oil Tankers Seized After Gun Battle in Libya
Citat:Two vessels illicitly carrying crude from Libya have been captured by the country’s naval forces after an hours-long gun battle on the coast of Tripoli, according to the navy’s spokesperson.
A Ukraine-flagged ship called Routa and another un-affiliated ship called Stark were captured early Friday morning near Sidi Said, according to Ayoub Qassem of the Libyan navy, who spoke with Reuters.
"Clashes lasted for three hours, but the two tankers were successfully seized," Qassem said.

Libyan militia building mercenary air force, rivals claim
Citat:Forces loyal to the Libyan renegade military commander Khalifa Haftar claim foreign mercenaries are being recruited to bolster the air power of rival fighters in the city of Misrata.
Colonel Ahmed Almesmari, of Haftar's Libyan National Army, said this week that the 11 mercenaries had entered the city, including "nine jet technicians from Ecuador, one Ukrainian pilot, one missile expert from Georgia".

Libya foreign minister names Khalifa Haftar army chief
Citat:Libya's foreign minister has named renegade General Khalifa Haftar, the controversial chief of the self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA), as the head of the country's army - provided that he recognises the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) as the only authority.

German fleet tender intercepts Libyan weapons in the Med
Citat:A German Navy fleet tender with an embarked team of Lithuanian boarding specialists intercepted a Libyan weapon-smuggling vessel on May 1.
Tender ‘Rhein’ intercepted the Libyan-flagged vessel ‘El Mukthar’ in international waters of the Mediterranean Sea. ‘Rhein’ is currently part of a EUNAVFOR counter-piracy and counter-smuggling task force called operation Sophia.
According to EUNAVFOR, several types of weapons including machine guns, AK47 rifles, RPG bullets, RPG launchers, mortar grenades and ammunition were found during the inspection.
