Turkey is offering to “join forces” with Washington for a special operation inside Syria on condition it doesn’t include a Syrian Kurdish armed force blacklisted by Ankara but seen as an ally by the US, the foreign minister said. Washington’s support of Kurdish fighters in Syria in the fight against ISIL terrorists has angered Ankara, especially after AFP pictures last week revealed US commandos sporting patches of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) detested by Turkey.

Beginning at dawn, more than 100 airstrikes have been conducted in total over Idlib. In the past 30 mins alone, 18 airstrikes have struck targets in the Idlib governorate. Subsequently, more than 50 people – mostly insurgents, some civilians – have been killed while approximately 250 have received injuries.

Yesterday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) – backed by the People’s Protection Units (YPG) – captured 8 villages from ISIS in the far eastern fringes of Aleppo province.
Among the villages liberated were Abu Safa’ih, Bi’r al-A’ma, Al-Haymah, Karawidani, Udanli Jubb with several others contested.

Today’s government operation was carried out by joint special forces of the SAA’s Republican Guard, Hezbollah and the SAA’s Airforce Intelligence Units. According to a military source in Damascus, the SAA has spent the last few days securing the farms south of Beit Na’em and Muhammadiyeh – this will allow more government troops to cross the Barada River and strike deep inside rebel areas of East Ghouta.

The Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces raised the Syrian Arab Republic’s flag over the municipal building inside the rebel stronghold of Mu’adhimiyah Al-Sham on Sunday after a agreement was put in place by local committees to give the government control of the city. Following the first phase of the reconciliation agreement that required the government to treat all the wounded and sick, the rebels from Ajnad Al-Sham requested to be transferred to the Idlib countryside, where they would rejoin their comrades near the provincial capital.
