New Modular MLRS "Tornado" will replace the old system "Grad", "Twister" and "Hurricane"
The new multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), "Tornado-G" to the end of May 2012 will complete the state tests. Test firing will take place at the Kapustin Yar in the Astrakhan region. In case of success (which no doubt neither the military nor the independent experts), the complexes will be adopted by the Army and in the next eight years
For service will receive three versions of MLRS "tornado":
MLRS "Tornado-G", capable of firing ammunition from the "Grad" (122mm)
MLRS "Tornado-U" is able to shoot ammunition from the "Hurricane" (220 mm caliber)
MLRS "Tornado-C", capable of firing ammunition from the "Whirlwind" (caliber 300 mm)
The blocks are interchangeable - the same launcher can turn in "Tornado-G", and "Tornado-C" and "Tornado-U.
In addition to existing rockets "Tornado" will be able to shoot and new, larger 2.5-fold range, with a new filling the warhead, including the nature of intelligence (intelligence, capsules, hover over the battlefield, target designators, and so etc.) and the possibility of controlled guidance.
