The target is to have approximately 1,000 self-propelled howitzers 155mm before end of the decade and, of course, an appropriate number of support vehicles within the fire modules codenamed REGINA, equipped with Krab AHS, K9 and K9PL SPH.
Today, the Polish company HSW and Armamaent Agency signed a contract for the acquisition of over 1,000 support vehicles for self-propelled howitzers used by the Polish Armed Forces.
These will be tracked vehicles: Command and staff vehicle / WDSZ / WD command vehicle on a modernized LPG chassis and ammunition vehicles on the JELCZ 8x8 wheeled chassis.
Today's second executive contract, worth USD 2.6 billion net, signed between the Armament Agency and Hanwha Defense, is to acquire another six K9 self-propelled howitzers, K9A1 version, in 2025, and 146 K9PL SPH in 2026- 2027.
The K9PL version is expected to equip the howitzers with, among others: a OBRA3laser warning system with an smoke grenades launcher, as well as an automatic explosion extinguishing and suppression system, filtering and ventilation systems, air conditioning, additional LCD displays for the crew and relocation of the APU to the chassis.
It was also reported that the Polish Krab AHS, in addition to ongoing production for Ukraine, will be further ordered for the Polish Army and that the army will soon expect the modernized Krab 2 version, which implements the experience of combat use of the Krab AHS in the war.
