Nova ideja je glatkocevni top sa HVP (high velocity projektilom), tako da se ovih dana njega testira u Yumi.
Lockheed Martin successfully tests extended-range guided rocket system Citat:Pentagon’s No.1 weapons supplier Lockheed Martin Corp has tested a new extended-range version of the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System.
According to Lockheed Martin, it successfully tested its next-generation Extended-Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (ER GMLRS) munition in an 80-kilometer flight demonstration at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.
During the flight test, the ER GMLRS round was fired from the U.S. Army’s High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher, built by Lockheed Martin, meeting test objectives.

Ne znam da li je bilo već negde, no krajem prošle godine se pojavila vest o uspešnom gađanju doduše iz trećeg pokušaja, opitnog Paladina koji je poslao M982 Ekskalibur na 43 milje odnosno skoro 70km. Ovaj Paladin sa cevkom od 58 kalibara, praktično 9 metara, se opituje već izvesno vreme. Prethodno uspešno gađanje ovog oruđa je bilo na 40 milja, tj nešto preko 64 km, sa HERA XM1113

The package will include the howitzers themselves, one Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System, five M88A2 Hercules vehicles, and five M2 Chrysler Mount .50 caliber machine guns; and one thousand six hundred ninety-eight (1,698) multi-option, Precision Guidance Kits (PGK). The deal between Taiwan and the United States also includes repair and maintenance of obsolete self-propelled howitzers of the same model, several global navigation systems, electro-optical night vision devices, training and maintenance of ordered military equipment. The Pentagon already notified Congress on Wednesday of a possible sale.
