Major Sándor Csák was the first to fly the L-39 Skyfox, followed by other pilots. This is an important milestone for the Hungarian Air Force, as the acquisition of the L-39 Skyfox will once again provide it with a complete capability to train tactical pilots domestically.

Hungary has ordered 12 new L-39 Skyfox in March 2022, in two versions: eight L-39NG.T1 Skyfox trainers, which are adapted for training NATO pilots for 4th and 5th generation aircrafts, including the F-35, and 4 L-39 Skyfox in a specific reconnaissance version.

The L-39 Skyfox will be operated by the 101st Air Brigade in Kecskemét (MH vitéz Szentgyörgyi Dezső 101. Repülődandár).
