Rivet Joint provides the UK with a greatly advanced capability and it is nonsense to suggest that in joining with the US on this capability and adhering to a common standard the UK will be at a disadvantage. In fact, this close co-operation enhances our shared intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance capability.
MOD decided to configure our Rivet Joint aircraft to as close a common standard with the US Air Force as is possible; this has significant support cost benefits through the life of the aircraft.
Major servicing will be conducted in the US at a facility that has the appropriate protection to handle the security classification of the aircraft. Day-to-day maintenance will be done by RAF personnel in the UK supported by contractors provided as part of the US/UK cooperative agreement.

U Spaniji prinudno sleteo americki avio-tanker KC-135
Citat:A U.S. military refueling plane has made an emergency landing at Spain's Palma de Mallorca airport in the Mediterranean Balearic islands.
A statement from the U.S. embassy in Madrid said the plane, a USAF KC-135 Tanker Call, which refuels other planes in the air, was diverted Monday due to a suspected fuel leak.
It says the aircraft is safe and the crew is investigating the problem. There were no details on the plane's route or crew numbers.
The airport authority says the plane landed at 8 a.m. (0600 GMT) without incident.
The U.S. has a naval base in Rota in southwestern Spain and troops and planes at the nearby southwestern Moron de la Frontera air base.

Brazil provukao iz upotrebe svoj poslednji Boeing 707( KC-137) tanker
Citat:The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) on 10 October 2013 officially withdrew its Boeing KC-137 transport and refuelling aircraft from active service.
The four original aircraft, operated from Galeão Air Force Base and now all phased out,
were former Boeing 707 commercial aircraft converted to military specifications by Boeing and inducted into Brazilian service in 1986 and 1987.
Following an FAB selection announcement in March 2013, contractual negotiations are being carried out with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for the acquisition of two second-hand Boeing 767-300ER commercial airplanes.
Those aircraft are to be overhauled and converted into the company's Multi-Mission Tanker and Transport configuration under the FAB's KC-X2 programme for replacing the KC-137.
