Microvanes are small 3D-printed structures that attach to the aft-end of the fuselage. When installed across the C-17 fleet, US Air Force estimates the microvanes will pay for themselves in fuel savings in seven months, and save over $10 million per year.

Citat:The runway and taxiway of Stillwater Regional Airport was damaged on Dec. 13 by a C-17 carrying the USAF women’s basketball team.
The team was there to play a game against Oklahoma State University.

The published runway maximum weight capacity of the airport’s runway is 310,000 pounds while the C-17 that landed was approximately 400,000 pounds.
