Brazil's Embraer delays cargo jet, loses revenue on defense cuts

Citat:Brazilian planemaker Embraer SA said on Thursday it will delay development of a military cargo jet and forgo $300 million of revenue this year due to Brazil's weaker currency and defense spending cuts, triggering the biggest drop in its shares in nearly four years.

Embraer now plans to deliver its first KC-390 cargo aircraft to the Brazilian Air Force in the first half of 2018 rather than the end of 2016, the company said in its quarterly earnings report. The plane is the biggest Embraer has made.

Embraer’s KC-390 Returns to Flight Test

Citat:The first prototype of Embraer’s new KC-390 tanker/airlifter has logged more than 100 hours since it resumed its flight-test program on October 26, 2015. A second prototype is due to join the campaign in the first half of this year.

The Brazilian manufacturer (Chalet CD31) says it is on course to complete certification in the second half of 2017, with first deliveries to the country’s air force due in 2018–two years later than first planned. This follows an interruption in flight-testing caused by pressures on government budgets in the wake of Brazil’s economic slowdown.
