Citat:Info - Austria: Eurofighter participates in international exercise “Amadeus12”
Thursday, 10. May 2012
Six Austrian Eurofighter Typhoons are playing a major role in the “Amadeus12” exercise that began on 7th May and runs until May 16th in the region of Allentsteig, Lower Austria. The exercise, which will be the biggest for Austria in 2012, involves around 2,300 soldiers and 51 different types of aircraft.
Alongside the Austrian Eurofighters from Zeltweg Air Force Base in Styria, two German Eurofighter’s from JG 74 in Neuburg are participating in the exercise. The purpose of the training is to prepare for the military evacuation of EU civilians in times of crisis or conflict. The EU aircraft, be it military transporters or chartered commercial airliners are escorted to safety by combat ground and air assets. Only recently this has been demonstrated in Egypt and Libya. Eurofighter Typhoons are participating in “Amadeus12” to provide quick reaction air support to the EU aircraft as well as offering an unquestionale deterent to any potential aggressors.
Citat:The Eurofighter has been drafted in to join the fight against the increasing problem regarding drug trafficking in this region.
The use of the aircraft has not been by chance, as the fighter boasts some sophisticated kit on board, with state of the art night vision and tracking equipment, which according to reports has already proved vital in tracking planes and helicopters used by the various criminal networks. The aircraft has also proved useful in pinpointing and detecting logistical areas and bases used by drug traffickers particularly in the North African coastal regions.

Citat:BAE Systems will deliver the remaining 48 Eurofighter Typhoons on order for Saudi Arabia over the next five years, with the first examples now in final assembly at the company's Warton site in Lancashire.
A contract modification to Riyadh's 72-aircraft Project Al Salam deal was signed earlier this year, with the nation seeking to introduce additional capability to the European type. BAE says it resumed assembly work in January, as the revised deal was still being finalised.
The Royal Saudi Air Force's remaining Tranche 2 aircraft will be completed in the UK at a rate of between eight and 10 per year, and will be "future-proofed" to receive planned enhancements. Airframe modifications would enable them to carry an active electronically scanned array radar and potentially range-extending conformal fuel tanks.
- Britanci dobijaju jos jedan eskadron, cetvrti, posto 1. eskadron dobija Tajfune
U vezi AESA
Citat:"We are crac.king on, with hardware coming together," Mason says. The first test radar should be delivered early in the second quarter of 2013, and flown by Eurofighter partner company BAE Systems on a Typhoon before the end of that year.
The design retains an upgraded processor and receiver from the mechanically-scanned Captor-M, but adds a new array and an electrically-steered repositioner which will increase the sensor's field of regard by +/-100˚.
"The gain in performance is well worth any minor degradation in mean-time between failure," Mason says. The AESA will deliver enhanced detection performance in air-to-air and air-to-ground modes, plus a synthetic aperture radar mapping function.
Mason says discussions with the four core Eurofighter partner nations are continuing, and believes that "those that have money will join the [AESA] programme in the near future". A production contract could come by mid-2013, with deliveries to commence from around 2015.
The Captor-E will be available as an option for Tranche 3A aircraft to be built for Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, and as a retrofit option for their Tranche 2 aircraft, along with those of Saudi Arabia. The enhancement is also being offered to other potential export customers for the Typhoon, including Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.
