Citat:The United Kingdom is considering the option of retaining some or all of its early-model Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft as it looks to prevent fighter numbers falling to their lowest levels since the Royal Air Force (RAF) was formed in 1918.
Speaking in the House of Commons on 3 November, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence, Philip Dunne, said that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) is currently reviewing its earlier decision to retire the 53 Tranche 1 Typhoons in 2018. While he said that this work is being done in anticipation of the upcoming Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR), he declined to be drawn on when a decision might be announced.

We will be extending the life of our multirole Typhoon for 10 extra years through to 2040, meaning we will be able to create 2 additional squadrons. This will give us a total of frontline 7 squadrons, consisting of around 12 aircraft per squadron. We will also invest in their ground attack capability and fit them with a new active electronically scanned array radar to ensure they can continue to operate in hostile environments in the future.

Finmeccanica delays completion of Kuwait Eurofighter contract-source
Citat:Italian defence group Finmeccanica has delayed the completion of a contract to sell 28 Eurofighter jets to Kuwait to the middle of December, a source close to the matter said on Thursday.
Finmeccanica had expected to complete the deal, worth 7-8 billion euros, in November.
The source said the delay was due to problems linked to pilot training and the dispatching of specialized personnel.

Kuwaiti government requests additional defence funding
Citat:The Kuwaiti government has issued a request to the country's parliament to approve a defence budget supplement valued at KWD6.1 billion (USD19.9 billion), local media reported on 1 December.
Kuwait's al-Rai newspaper and Reuters reported that the country's minister of state for cabinet affairs, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah al-Sabah, confirmed that a request for additional funding had been made by the government, but declined to confirm the value of the amount. The value of the proposed defence supplement represents a value four times the size of the country's total defence budget in 2015.
The news of the additional funding, which is reportedly to be used for procurement over a ten year period, comes as Kuwait signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Eurofighter consortium in September for 28 aircraft to replace its fleet of Boeing F/A-18C/D Hornet fighter aircraft and a Letter of Acceptance with the French government in October covering 24 Airbus Helicopters H225M helicopters, light armoured vehicles, and naval vessel upgrades.
It is also unclear whether the country is still looking to pursue a procurement with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, which would operate in conjunction to the country's future Typhoon fleet.
