Typhoon je zreo za mid-life reviziju (da je nazovem Tranche 4), obzirom na to da je u medjuvremenu tehnologija otisla dalje.
Stvari oko AESA radara su se iskomplikovale, pa je Captor-E u medjuvremenu tehnoloski zastareo (GaAs moduli) - Nemci i Spanci zajedno rade na svojoj varijanti sa savremenijim T/R modulima, a Briti i Talijani planiraju da rade na svojoj. U medjuvremenu, Captor-E su prodali Kuvajtu.
Ni ovaj kokpit vise ne deluje impresivno, konkurencija vec prelazi na "od kraja do kraja" model.

Spanci, kako je i ranije najavljeno, pocinju da menjaju F-18 sa dodatnim Tajfunima, za sada potpisan ugov za prvih 20 T4

As previously described to Janes, these Tranche 3+/Tranche 4 Eurofighters (company officials have used both designations) would be of the latest Tranche 3 standard, and will also feature an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar and other modifications. For Spain, the AESA would be ‘Radar 1’, development of which is being led by Hensoldt and Indra.

Javna je tajna da Austrijanci pokusavaju vec neko vreme da se rese Typhoona i nabave supersonike jeftinije za eksploataciju (najverovatnije Gripen, a mozda cak i FA-50).
