Poland to buy 5th-gen fighter jets around 2025
Citat:Polish Deputy Defence Minister Tomasz Szatkowski has announced plans by Warsaw to acquire fifth-generation fighter jets around 2025.
The acquisition will be carried out under the Harpia program (Harpy in English), which is planned to be launched next year, Szatkowski said at a panel discussion held by Warsaw-based think tank Polityka Insight. The procurements will be enabled by Warsaw’s plans to increase the country’s military spending from the current level of 2 percent of its gross domestic product to 2.5 percent in the coming years, according to the deputy defense minister.
The latest announcement comes as the Defence Ministry is developing its procurement plan for the years 2017 to 2026. Ministry officials have said that Warsaw might purchase two squadrons of F-35 Lightning II jets, consisting of a total of 32 aircraft. The planned procurement of fifth-generation fighters was also included in the ministry’s "Concept of Defence of the Republic of Poland," a strategic document released May 23.

Spain’s Air Force and Navy have sights set on new American fighter aircraft
Citat:After investing €10.6 billion on the European fighter plane, it turns out that Spain’s future military aircraft will in all likelihood be American-made. The Spanish Air Force and Navy have their sights set on the F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter, made by Lockheed Martin, to replace the F-18s and vertical take-off Harriers that will be decommissioned halfway through the next decade.
An estimated 45 to 50 aircraft will be required for the Spanish Air Force and another 12 to 15 for the Navy. The program could represent spending of over €6 billion, and more than double that considering the logistical support required to keep the aircraft operational.
There is no alternative for the Navy, if it wants to maintain its naval aviation capacity – the ability to launch air power from a ship. The Navy will have to gradually decommission its remaining AV-8B Harrier II Plus aircraft, and the only planes available on the market capable of Vertical/Short Take Off and Landing (V/STOL) are the F-35s. Without them, the Navy’s flagship Juan Carlos I would be reduced to the category of helicopter carrier.

Израиль обратился к США по вопросу закупки ещё 17 F-35I
Citat:27.11.16 правительство Израиля утвердило решение о закупке ещё 17 F-35I («Адир»), дополнив число самолётов этого типа до 50 (первые 19 были заказаны в октябре 2010 г., следующие 14 – в феврале 2015 г.).
До сих пор решение от 27.11.16 было внутренним израильским решением. И вот сегодня, 08.06.17, было опубликовано, что несколько дней назад МО Израиля передало в Пентагон документ, уведомляющий о согласии реализовать опцию по закупке 17 F-35I в дополнение к 33 уже заказанным. Контракт ещё не подписан, ориентировочная стоимость каждого самолёта – около 100 млн долларов .
50 самолётов позволят ВВС сформировать две полноценные эскадрильи «Адир». Пока в Израиль прибыло 5 F-35I, ещё по 2 прибудут в августе и сентябре 2017 г., следующие 9 – в течение 2018 г. Поставки всех уже заказанных 33 F-35I завершатся в 2021 г.
Среди самолётов, прибытие которых запланировано на 2020 г., будет специальный испытательный вариант F-35I. Машина уникальна, т.е. создана в единственном экземпляре по спецификациям, подготовка которых потребовала два года.

Israel Completes Acquisition of F-35s from United States
Citat:Israel's Ministry of Defense recently sent a letter to the US Department of Defense to complete the purchase of 17 F-35 jets, Israel's Walla News reported on Thursday. Each plane costs approximately US$100 million.
The acquisition was first announced in November 2016, and brings the total number of F-35s purchased by Israel to 50.

U.S. Air Force suspends flying ops of Lockheed's F-35 at Luke Air Base
Citat:The U.S. Air Force said on Friday it has temporarily canceled flying operations of Lockheed Martin Corp's F-35 jets at Luke Air Force base in Arizona.
The move comes after a series of five incidents in which pilots experienced hypoxia-like symptoms, a U.S. Air Force spokesman said.
Since May 2, pilots of five F-35A Lightning II aircraft assigned to the air force base have reported physiological incidents while flying, the spokesman said.
