How F-35s Deployed To A Narrow Highway In California
The War Zone was on the scene for VMX-1’s exercise Obsidian Iceberg, that served as a glimpse of what’s to come in the Pacific.
The United States Marine Corps’ Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron One (VMX-1) spends most of its time trialing and evaluating new hardware, weapons, and software updates for Marine aircraft. In between all of those testing events, leaders at the squadron came up with an organic effort to bring in all of their assets for an ongoing test event with a heavy focus on Expeditionary Air Basing Operations (EABO) which is a major initiative that could prove essential to winning a war in the Pacific.

The Warzone: How F-35s Deployed To A Narrow Highway In California
Citat:
Another big part of Obsidian Iceberg 23.1 was measuring the radio frequency spectrum signature throughout the evolution with the goal of trying to figure out what systems are the noisiest. They checked the signatures of the things they were relying on the most and then compared them with some of the classified assessments of the threat capabilities to see where they were the most vulnerable. To help them do electronic warfare signature measurement, the squadron brought in Marines from the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) as well as some experts from MAWTS-1.
One of the main takeaways from this as well as past exercises is that every seat onboard a Marine Huey or Osprey is extremely valuable. During this training event, VMX-1 brought in Marines from the 3rd LAAD (Low Altitude Air Defense) Battalion to help against aerial targets such as drones and other aircraft. The team of three landed in the zone via a VMX-1 UH-1Y, and were able to participate in the rehearsal concept drills, scheme of maneuver developments and also watch how VMX-1 did things so they could bring back lessons learned to their community in order to integrate better into the Nodal EABO concept.

MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Virginia --
The Marine Corps will soon receive a new communication jamming system that will give Marines the operational edge in expeditionary maneuver warfare, operations ashore and future cyber roles.
The Communication Emitter Sensing and Attack System II, or CESAS II, is the Corps’ sole high power, ground-mobile electronic attack asset that gives the Marine Air-Ground Task Force the capability to detect, deny and disrupt threat communications. The upgrade makes the new system lighter and doubles the frequency range.
“Marines need to be able to rapidly and cooperatively disrupt, deny and degrade enemy communication systems by using nonlethal and lethal attacks on the ground,” said Heather Place, project officer for CESAS in MCSC’s Marine Intelligence. “CESAS II is designed to do just that by jamming commonly used communication frequencies.”
When integrated on a vehicle platform, the CESAS II weighs roughly half that of the legacy system, down from 1,300 to 670 pounds. The system can also be scaled to a core man-portable size, which includes the cases, laptop and cables weighing 180 pounds in total.
“CESAS II provides stationary and on-the-move capabilities, and is lightweight, modular, scalable, reliable, cost effective, ruggedized and economically sustainable,” said Place. “The system is capable of conducting static, stationary and vehicle mobile electronic warfare operations in support of the MAGTF and joint force commanders.”
The system integrates onto radio battalion vehicles, specifically the Humvee. Future plans include expanding the capability to other vehicle platforms such as the Light Armored Vehicle and Join Light Tactical Vehicle.
CESAS II covers high frequency, very high frequency and ultra high frequency ranges against enemy emitters using modern modulation schemes. It can be used singularly or in combination with lethal fires, as mission, situation and threat dictate.
“CESAS II is a force multiplier that enhances the radio battalion’s ability to support and execute the MAGTF Information Warfare plan,” Place said.
The system is on track for fielding later this year.
MCSC’s program office for Military Intelligence provides the Marine Corps with systems for the collection, analysis, utilization and dissemination of intelligence required by Marine commanders and MAGTF intelligence units.

70% Or More Of F-35s May Not Be Combat-Capable
[Link mogu videti samo ulogovani korisnici]
Citat:Even for someone who is an F-35 realist, the results are shocking. Not only is the F-35 fleet’s full mission capable rate in the neighborhood of 30 percent (see table on page 96 of the report), the full mission capable rate of the Marine Corps’ F-35B was a miserable 15.5 percent in March 2023. More current full mission capable rates have not been published, but given the program’s ongoing problems and issues, including unreliable engines that are now under-specced due to feature creep, it is highly unlikely the situation has improved in the last year.
Za borbene zadatke 30%, F35B tek 15,5 %.
Sa F35B je stanje loše, što je bio i problem Hariera.
Na poćetku [Link mogu videti samo ulogovani korisnici] je o održavanju ,
Citat:Lack of availability of spare parts. In our survey of F-35 installations,
officials at 10 of 15 installations stated that a significant day-to-day
maintenance challenge for the F-35 was the availability of spare parts.
This challenge is borne out in data from the F-35 Joint Program Office,
which shows that during fiscal year 2022, about 27 percent of the time F35 aircraft at U.S. units were unable to operate due to the lack of a spare

27% u 2022 godini su stajali što nije bilo rezervnih delova.
Dali je ovaj avion za rat? Nije.

Nova isporuka za brite
Britain takes delivery of more new F-35 stealth jets
Citat:With one aircraft lost in an accident and four test jets in the US, there are now 30 of the type in operational service in the UK.
There is an expectation that all of the 47 in the first batch will be delivered by the end of 2025. Note that it would have been 48 if one didn’t crash.
After that, the Ministry of Defence expressed the intention to purchase another tranche of jets.

izgleda da su resili i probleme oko topa na A verziji i sad se vec smatra da je efikasan.
The 25mm automatic cannon nestled inside the F-35A variant of the Joint Strike Fighter is now deemed to be an effective weapon. For years, a host of issues had left these stealth fighters unable to shoot straight. Problems with the 25mm cannon have also been a particularly notable talking point in the still-controversial debate over plans to supplant the venerable A-10 Warthog ground attack jet with the F-35A.

Grci bi da zamene Block 3 za Block 4
Greece swaps F-35 Block 3 for Block 4 to deploy Meteor BVRAAM
Citat:Currently, Greece is discussing the procurement of 20 F-35A Block 3 fighter jets.
However, a credible Greek news outlet, Pentapostagma, is reporting a change of plans. The negotiations between Athens and Washington appear to be leaning towards a swap of the Block 3 jets for the advanced Block 4 versions. A cursory look back at BulgarianMilitary.com reveals that when the green light was given for Greece to acquire the F-35, the jet model in question was Block 3.
When observing Greece’s upgrade from Block 3 to Block 4, the change is significant and largely influenced by their desire to incorporate the French Meteor BVRAAM [beyond visual range air-to-air missile] missile. As an existing user of the Meteor, courtesy of their acquisition of 24 Dassault Rafale fighter jets from France, this strategic move is logical for Athens.
