Expect possible PL-9C, others arent HOBS missiles. And PL-9C doesnt have range to compete with R-73E (22km vs. 30km) not to mention RVV-MD with its 40km.

A-Darter
Sources indicate an initial 100-200 units could be sold to international users, and Pakistan is viewed as a possible buyer.

MAA-1B Piranha
The MAA-1 Piranha 1 is a short-range infrared homing missile and the first air-to-air missile developed by Brazil for its Air Force and Navy. It was designed to replace the AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles
Pakistan Air Force - Unknown number of MAA-1A Piranha 1 missiles delivered in June 2010.
Letter of Intent signed by Pakistan to procure the MAA-1B Piranha 2 .
MAA-1B is a Brazilian air to air missile produced by Mectron. This new version of the Piranha, fits as a 4th generation missile with "off boresigh", about 90°, and a greater range of 50%, as well as greater maneuverability achieved by changing the aerodynamics of the flight controls of the original missile. The MAA-1B is capable of being appointed by the aircraft's radar or the HMD helmet. It will be a 4th generation missile, Brazilian air force has entered in the A-DARTER program and is already developing a 5th generation missile to be used with the MAA-1B.

PL-12G
PAF has bought SD-10's and will buy its most modern Version PL-12G which has Improved range , design , seeker , warhead and HOBS capability.''
''During IDEAS2006 in November last year, the Diehl BGT IRIS-T was being touted as the likely candidate. With its High Off Bore Sight (HOBS) engagement capability (including the ability to engage threats in the rear hemisphere), and incredible manoeuvrability, the IRIS-T may well be an effective counter to Thrust Vector Control (TVC) ----. This will include PGMs already in the PAF arsenal and used by the Mirage-III/IV fleet, such as the H-4 (thought to be a local production of the Denel Raptor-II MUPSOW – MUlti-Purpose Stand-Off Weapon)

''The JF-17 Block II is believed to have AESA radars similar to those observed on the J-10B. The integrated avionics, sensors and EW suite is entirely Chinese and is believed to be at the level of Europes best planes. The AESA radar is a slightly smaller version of the one being utilized for the J-10B. The radar is highly sophisticated and its installation is beyond the present capacity at PAC Kamra and will thus require the aircraft to take a trip to Nanjing, China.
The Block II will be the standard version to be used in the PAF with the older Block Is to be retired after the end of production for the first 150 aircraft. This suggests that the structural changes needed to convert the Block Is to Block II standard are significant, suggesting considerable changes to the revised edition. The following are believed to be some of the key changes:
1. AESA radar
2. Comprehensive upgrades for low RCS profile including cockpit glass, RAM paint, refined structure, completely new nose structure for AESA, significant increase in the use of composites and retractable refueling probe.
3. Awaited integration of A-Darter missiles from Brazil / South Africa with HOBS capability and Brazilian HMS.
4. The BVR missile is the SD-10B which has been found more than a match for the AMRAAM-120 C5s. An unknown Meteor class missile is in the works beyond the SD-10Bs.''

Ok but those are missiles which Pakistan would buy, so they arent in inventory. When JF-17 gets them then things will change. But right now new and very modern Pakistan JF-17 has worse dogfight capability then Indian Bisons. And all because of archaic short ranged missiles.

mean machine , ive never thought about it , will take a look at specs -- however jft blk1 beats f16 blk15 every time in dogfights so bison shouldnt pose a problem as it doesnt have the double delta wings like f7pg

Dubai has a static AND flying JF-17 demo, unless there have been some last-minute changes like at the Paris Airshow

Bison was very effective against F-16 during Cope India 2004. Why?
Because it had R-73 while F-16 used AIM-9M.

Oh dear, not another bison advocate. Destination is known already. Coming back to topic, according to you, r-73 has more range and HOBS ability so all adversary missiles become obsolete? History and FACTS tell otherwise. The reality is that Pl-9 (C version) is the best Wvr missile in PAF and PLA inventory for a good reason. Range is 7-8 km short but it does have off bore-sight capability that goes to 60 degrees. A dual mode seeker with a good anti-jamming ability. Seeker is important as it differentiates between flares and aircraft more than that of Aim-9 Ls, Ps, Pl-8s etc. Last but not the least, if you believe a more advanced WVR or even BVR for that matter, gives an upper hand then you are far from truth. Air combat is far from a perfect world. Timing and skills matter A LOT, the rest just follows...

Niko ne spori da je MiG-21 Bison zastareo. Jedino što on ima dobre rakete i mali odraz. Shodno tome smatram da je pitanje kojim raketama će se naoružati PAF Jf-17 sasvim na mestu.

As i said, air combat is an open game with many factors involved. One can and must never predict anything. No point in derailing this thread.
