SRI LANKAN AIR CHIEF DUE TO DISCUSS DEAL ON JF-17 AIRCRAFT

Citat: Islamabad—Taking keen interest to purchase multipurpose JF-17 Thunder aircraft from Pakistan, Sri Lankan Air Force Chief Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala will arrive here next month to further pushing the deal, diplomatic sources said.

A co-production of Pakistan and China, the fighter aircraft have participated successfully in world’s reputed air shows including the recently held in Paris, attracting buyers from Asia and Africa due to its performance and competitive price tag. Myanmar has already clinched a deal while negotiations with other potential buyers are in progress.

Besides holding meetings with Pakistan authorities, he will call on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman.

Negotiations on number of planes Sri Lanka is interested to purchase and their financial aspects are in final stages, diplomatic sources said.

AVIC expands Africa ambitions with new offices and service points

Citat:The state-run Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) is expanding its market in Africa through establishing an aviation training center, two regional marketing offices, two maintenance and support centers and three warehouses for spare parts on the continent, Oscar Nkala, an expert in African military development, writes in a piece for Defense News on Oct. 10.
Zhang Guangjian, general manager of AVIC subsidiary International Aero Development Corp (IADC), said at Aviation Expo China 2015 in Beijing last month that the civilian aviation training center will be in South Africa while the two maintenance and product support offices will be in Tanzania and the Republic of Congo. The three warehouses will be in Kenya, Zimbabwe and the Republic of Congo.
While IADC was set up primarily to promote China's civilian aircraft internationally, the maintenance and support centers it runs will also service Chinese-made military aircraft including fighters, trainers, helicopters and drones in the air forces of African nations.

DUBAI: Pakistan keeps mum on first JF-17 buyer
