Citat:On 6 November 2018, the first of three “new” F/A-18B Hornets arrived at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center (Edwards AFB, CA).
The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18B-11-MC Hornet, with BuNo 161938 and construction number 143/B034, is a former VX-23 aircraft (known as SD-322) from NAS Patuxent River (MD). All unit markings, tail code and modex were already removed when it arrived at Armstrong.

These aircraft were built to last up to 6,000 flight hours, although many have already achieved 8,000 hours through a variety of sustainment efforts and continue to have sufficient operational availability.
