The MiG-29s of the Soviet 4th Fighter Division

The 145th Fighter Air Regiment was the third unit which received the MiG-29 type. The first early MiG-29 9.12 (C/n: 296.05.09199) Fulcrum-A landed on December 17th 1984 at the airport of Ivano-Frankovsk. The pilots of the regiment moved to Central Asia's Mary Airport with their MiG-29's, so they can receive tactical training for the type at the 1521th Combat Training Center. Then they had the opportunity to launch R-27 rockets to LA-17 target machines over the desert.

In the mid-eighties the 145th Fighter Regiment's task was to offset the USAF F-16A block 15 using 50th Tactical Fighter Wing at the West German airspace. The 145th Fighter Regiments early MiG-29 9.12 Fulcrum-A fighters still didn't have BVP-30-26M chaff / flare dispensers.


The 4th fighter division 92nd regiment's assigned pilots traveled to Lipetsk in 1987 so they can receive basic training at 4th Center for Combat Employment and Retraining of Personnel receive for the MiG-29 type. They took over a squadron of early MiG-29 9.12 Fulcrum-A tactical fighters from the 145th regiment, they continued the training with them at Munkachevo airport.

The 4th Fighter Division received three squadrons of new MiG-29 9.13 Fulcrum-C type between 1987 and 1988. Among them, two squadrons went to the 92th Regiment and one squadron went to the 145th Fighter Regiment, beside the early 9.12 Fulcrum-A's.

One was shown on the static, and the other two (including this one) were the flying display aircraft and spare. Note the personal wheel chocks!

This aircraft and all other Falkenberg MiG 29's were withdrawn on 15 June 1993 to Sernograd in Russia. Interestingly, the crew chief of this aircraft at Sernograd, Viktor Tkachenko, saw his MiG on this site and wrote me an e-mail. Viktor lived at Altenburg-Nobitz from 1988 to 1993, where his father served as a lieutenant colonel.

gavrilon ::Vec smo pricali ovde a i Zivojin je potvrdio da su Kazahstanske 29-ke medju starijim iz serija 9.12 i da je dobar deo njih sluzio u puku gde su i nasi piloti 1987. prosli preobuku.Prema tome vecini tih aviona (proizvedenim najverovatnije 1984-1985) uskoro istice vek upotrebe (koji se moze produziti ali pitanje je da li je to uopste isplatljivo ako vec nabavljaju ove ''ale" od Suhoja).U svakom slucaju (ako im je "pretekao" neki mladji primerak 9.12) mogu jos da ih lete 2-3 godine i to je to.Imali su ti njihovi primerci "solidan" nalet jos dok su bili u SSSR a verujem i kasnije u Kazahstanu.

Скоро све 29-ке из периода СССР-а пребачене су у Русију, отприлике до краја пролећа 1992. године.
Од 1995 до 1998. су од Русије добили (као надокнаду за враћене Ту-95, њихово наоружање а и као накнаду коришћења космодрома Бајконур) укупно 42 авиона 9.12, 9.12 Б и 9.51. Део авиона је стигао из ремонтних завода, а део директно из јединица.
У Украјини су ремонтовали, у периоду од 2009. до 2012. године, укупно 9 једноседа и 5 двоседа.

Postoji li još opcija da UBT dobiju radar Osa ili Osa-II ukoliko naručilac iskaže interesovanje za time?

Могуће јер се изгледа испитује УБМ 9-53А са тим радаром. Видели смо слике оног сивог авиона.

Da, ta opcija postoji jos od samog pocetka razvoja verzije UBT ( 9-52 ) kasnije i ovih novih 9-53.
