Formation of (zabranjeno)s on the F-5 Tiger: Checks Completed

Faced with this situation, the Air Force, anxious to save money and optimize its fleet, has decided to keep 26 F-5 Tiger aircraft in service and to retire ten aircraft with (zabranjeno)s. Repair work is planned for six aircraft. Repair costs are budgeted at about one million francs.
The discovery, during a major overhaul carried out in 2014, of a (zabranjeno) in the supporting structure of a Tiger F-5E (single seater) resulted in inspections being ordered on all Tiger F-5E / F aircraft still in service.
During this large-scale verification, another major (zabranjeno) - classified as serious by the technical evaluation – was discovered in early January 2015 in the same component on a second aircraft.

This also has implications for the 2015 season of the Patrouille Suisse, as the aerobatic squadron of the Swiss air force will not always be able to perform with its full complement of six “red and white” aircraft.
Between 1978 and 1984, the Air Force acquired 110 F-5 Tiger (98 single-seaters and 12 two-seaters). Today, there 26 aircraft remain in service (after the repairs).
