Pretpostavljam da si hteo reći kako su svi odabrali najkonzervativniji put u razvoju. Možda ne svih komponeneti, nego globalno gledano.
Kad se pogledaju današnji izazovi i kakav je razvoj mogao imati YF-23, mislim da su se malo zeznuli. Mada opet LM je napravio veliko iskustvo sa 22-kom. Što naravno ne treba nikako potceniti u pogledu na F-35.

Ako si mislio "malo zeznuli' u smislu "ne puno zeznuli, tj. nisu pogresili" slozio bi se sa tobom jer je tehnoloski iskorak u globalu bio ogroman. Bili su svesni toga i isli su na proverenu konfiguraciju zmaja.
Na zalost, zbog toga ce ostati misterija kako bi se radikalan dizajn aerodinamike ponasao u praksi i daljem razvoju YF-23. Da je pobedio, da li bi F-35 ikada licio na F-22 ili nebi ni pokusali da idu sa tom konfiguracijom ponovo jer YF-22 nije prosao i izgleda previse klasicno. O X-32 necu ni da govorim, ali verovatno nebi ni on postojao kao pokusaj da je YF-23 pobedio nego bi X-32 licio na manjeg F-23....mozda gresim..
Eto to je ukratko bila moja misao.
Sa druge strane, po meni su moderni elektronski sistemi, fuzije svega i softver logistika iza njih stvorila mnogo vise problema i komplikacija kod stelt aviona nego aerodinamika zmaja.

Evo ceo clanak o tome, spominjalo se svasta, YF-23, SR-71, TR-3A, ASTRA...

Posle 10 godina sam video sliku nekog amatera koji je slikao u engleskoj kroz zice aerodroma siluetu aviona koji se prinudno spustio tokom neke navodne izvidjacke misije preko Rusije u Englesku jer je imao tehnickih problema.
Amerikanci su se sjatili u englesku avio bazu, prekrili avion pre nego li je snimatelj dosao, tako da se vide samo konture ali dovoljno da se vidi kontrura hrbata od F-23 i vise nego prepoznatljiva dva nakrivljena "vertikalca", repne povrsine i njegova duzina.
izgleda da je bio toliko brz i steath da se nisu libili da ga koriste kao nekog strategijskog izvidjaca.
Da li su napravili vecu seriju istih, to treba da pitamo glavonje u AREA 51.

A secret aircraft reportedly crashed during takeoff at RAF Boscombe Down in 1994 sparking what has been an enduring mystery.

On September 22, 1994, eyewitnesses living near Boscombe Down reported hearing an abnormal noise approaching the base. According to local television news reports the next day, the noise sounded almost like a freight train or a low-frequency rumbling or humming.
A few days later, on the evening of September 26, an unknown aircraft malfunction shut down Runway 23 at RAF Boscombe Down. Eyewitnesses reported that the broken aircraft was quickly covered by a frame and tarpaulins while surrounded by emergency vehicles. While sitting on the runway, the aircraft's rear section was unusually elevated, possibly indicating a nose wheel collapse. Shortly after, the aircraft was pulled into a hangar where it sat behind closed doors for two days.

The mystery aircraft was said to have been charcoal grey with inward-canted twin tail fins and featured chines extending from its nose section, not too dissimilar from those found on the SR-71 or the characteristics we see on stealthy aircraft designs, such as the YF-23. The aircraft was reported to be the size of a large fighter jet and its canopy appeared to hinge forward at the front.
The crashed aircraft remained in the hangar at Boscombe Down until a lumbering USAF C-5 Galaxy appeared to fly the wreckage home on September 28, 1994. The C-5's original flight plan had it landing at Ramstein Air Base in Germany until it requested a diversion to Boscombe Down late in its flight.

Nisu ova dva ali je iz tog vremena. IRST/FLIR koji je trebao biti ugradjen u otkazani A-12 Avenger II.
