Hungary will sign agreement covering loss of two JAS 39 Gripens

Citat:The Hungarian Ministry of Defence will amend its lease agreement with the Swedish government for JAS 39 Gripen aircraft following the loss two of the fighters in 2015, according to a December government filing.

A decree signed by Prime Minister Viktor Orban was published by the government at the end of 2015.

The decree stipulates that the additional cost of replacing the two aircraft for use during the 2017-2026 lease period should not exceed HUF9.5 billion (USD33 million). The original leasing agreement was signed in 2001 and covers 12 single-seat and two tandem-seat aircraft. The last amendment to the leasing agreement was signed in 2012 and involved payment schedule changes.

Rheinmetall to equip Saab Gripen NG fighter jets with upgraded BK27 cannon
