US strikes down T-50 exports to Uzbekistan

Citat:The U.S. government has refused to allow Korea to export its indigenous supersonic training jets worth $400 million to Uzbekistan, sources said Sunday.

The denial of permission is another blow to Korea's program to develop its own military aircraft and comes at a sensitive time when the U.S. government's refusal to hand over key avionics technologies regarding F-35 fighters to Korea has become a political issue between the two nations.

Korea Aerospace Industries' (KAI) T-50 Golden Eagle was co-developed in 2006 with Lockheed Martin, using the U.S. firm's core technologies, including the avionics system and engine.

Because of this, Korea needs to get approval from the U.S. government to export the aircraft in accordance with the U.S. Arms Export Control Act.

"KAI has been in negotiations with the Uzbek government to export the supersonic trainers, but the U.S. government is opposing the deal, citing possible technology leakage and diplomatic policy," a source said.

The U.S. refusal comes at a sensitive time when the Korea's weapons procurement agency has drawn fire for failing to receive key avionics technologies

KAI outlines Thai T-50 training package

Citat:Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has negotiated with Thailand a training and education-based package to support its first-phase contract to supply four T-50TH lead-in fighter trainer aircraft to the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF).
Speaking at the Defense & Security 2015 show in Bangkok on 2 November, KAI officials told IHS Jane's that the package comprises the transfer of technical knowhow, operational training as well as aerospace scholarships in South Korea.

KAI signed a USD110 million contract to supply the T-50TH aircraft - an armed modified version of T-50 Golden Eagle advanced jet trainer (AJT) - in September. The aircraft will replace the RTAF's fleet of Czech Republic Aero L-39ZA Albatros trainers, which were procured in the early 1990s.

PAF chief test-flies new FA-50H fighter jet

Citat:Philippine Air Force (PAF) chief Lt. Gen. Jeffrey D. Delgado co-piloted one of the military’s brand new FA-50H lead-in fighters during a capability demonstration in South Korea last week.
Air Force spokesman Col. Enrico Canaya said the PAF chief had the privilege to ride the aircraft during a visit to the Sancheon Air Base in South Korea November 6.
He added that the aircraft flown by Delgado is one of the first two FA-50PH lead-in fighter trainer jets to be delivered by a Korean aircraft manufacturer to the country in the coming weeks.

Air Force’s 2 FA-50 fighter trainer jets to arrive in PH Nov. 27
