During the five-month-long armed conflict in Marawi last year, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Ryan R. Seguin, a Philippine Air Force (PAF) fighter pilot, was among the dauntless few who directed aerial missions instrumental in scoring back victory against the Maute group.
Flying a total of 134 missions, it marked a milestone in his 22-year career service: he flew the most number of missions ever achieved by a pilot in the entire PAF history. Lt. Col. Seguin is also a mentor of pilots.
He has committed himself to teaching and training a new generation of troops to become qualified pilots of fighter aircrafts. His efforts resulted to a total of 25 combat and mission ready pilots in PAF’s 5th Fighter Wing.
Citat:Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has begun the development of an improved variant of the FA-50 Golden Eagle, with enhanced air-to-ground capabilities. Known as the FA-50 Block 10, the upgraded batch will integrate the Lockheed Martin AN/AAQ-33 Sniper targeting pod, allowing the aircraft to self-designate and deploy laser-guided munitions.
KAI senior manager and chief of strategy development and integration team, Derik Shin, told AIN in an exclusive interview that work started in October 2018 and that the project aims to be completed no later than 2021. He added that current FA-50 users can still benefit from the software upgrade and that no physical modifications are to be made to the aircraft. Shin estimates each aircraft to have a list price ranging between $35 and $40 million.
Citat:Shin also revealed that an FA-50 Block 20 is in the works, and development will begin starting this year. Block 20 will give the FA-50 the capability to conduct beyond-visual-range air-to-air missions, carrying munitions such as the AIM-120 AMRAAM. As with the Block 10, there is no requirement to modify the radar of the FA-50. Shin said that the principal challenge is to find a way to increase the power output of the Elta EL/M-2032 fire-control radar to extend its range from 70 kilometers (43.5 statute miles) to more than 100 km (62 sm).

Ovako, business as usual tj no business. Koliko se sjecam jedino tale imaju trainer
