FA-50 Air strike destroys NPA lair in Northern Samar
Citat:The deployment of new Philippine Air Force FA-50 fighter jets that dropped 500 pounds of bombs damaged a New People’s Army (NPA) lair in the outskirts of Las Navas, Northern Samar town over the weekend.
Capt. Reynaldo C. Aragones Jr., spokesman of the Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Division, said in a statement issued Monday that the airstrike surprised 50 fighters of the communist terrorist group led by Ceriaco Jerusalem in upland Caputoan village of the said town.
“The Joint Task Force Storm under the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) central command and the Philippine Army orchestrated the joint operations to locate and annihilate the said NPA group, which had been monitored doing extortion from the communities in the province,” Aragones said.
For the first time, government troops utilized the Philippine Air Force supersonic FA-50 jets to conduct surgical airstrikes that destroyed makeshift huts built by NPA fighters.

Tajlandskih 8 stizu do juna, nego izgleda su ipak naoruzani, samo ispod zita
Citat:Thailand and KAI call these aircraft T-50s, implying that they are purely trainers. But both sides also use that designation for the four aircraft which the country ordered in 2015 and which turned out to be TA-50 trainer-attack jets. Moreover, Thailand’s TA-50s are being upgraded to the FA-50 light-attack standard, raising the possibility that the next eight will also be FA-50s.
The official declined to comment on whether they would indeed have radars and guns. The FA-50 has the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) EL/M-2032 radar and General Dynamics M61 Vulcan 20 mm cannon.
KAI said in May it had been awarded a $52 million contract to upgrade the four “T-50s,” fitting them with radars, guns, radar warning receivers and flight management systems. The work is due to be completed by October 2021.
When fitted with radar, the first four aircraft are also likely to be given the Rafael Advanced Systems Derby beyond-visual-range missile, as the air force has said that it would integrate weapons of that category on them. They have been armed with Rafael Python 4 and Raytheon AIM-9 Sidewinder infrared short-range missiles since delivery.
The FA-50 has also been integrated with the Python 4 and Sidewinder.
Indonesia contracted KAI last year to upgrade its 15 TA-50s with radars and internal guns. This work is progressing, the KAI official said.
