The withdrawal of the remaining 28 single-seat A-7E and 15 twin-seat TA-7C aircraft currently serving with 336 Squadron at Araxos will end nearly 40 years of Corsair II service with the HAF. The type was first introduced in the air force 1975, although the current fleet was received from the US Navy in 1992.

Having served solidly for more than four decades, the A-7 has been superseded in HAF service by the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon.
