Government approves $400-million plan to procure armed Heron TP drones from Israel
Citat:The government has quietly approved the purchase of 10 missile-armed drones from Israel — a crucial acquisition that will enhance India's cross-border military strike capability. The $400-million proposal for buying armed Heron TP drones from Israel was cleared last week.
These drones will be operated by the Indian Air Force, which has a fleet of reconnaissance drones. IAF also has a fleet of Harpy UAVs from Israel, which are self-destructing systems primarily tasked with taking out enemy radar positions.

Citat:Elbit Systems is to supply its Hermes 900 UAS to an unnamed customer in the Latin American region under a contract announced on 25 September. The contract is valued at $70 million.
The customer will use the Hermes 900 integrated with an intelligence gathering system for homeland security applications.
Elbit Systems will supply the system within the next 12 months.

(NASDAQ and TASE: ESLT) ("Elbit Systems"), announced today that it was awarded a contract from an Asia-Pacific country to supply a comprehensive airborne solution for use in intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. The contract, valued at approximately $50 million, will be performed over a three-year period by Elbit Systems' ISTAR Division, which will be the prime contractor for this program.
The full scale solution will further develop the customer's existing intelligence and surveillance capabilities, by upgrading Elbit Systems' already-deployed, long-range electro-optical (EO) cameras and sensors, and supplementing them with ELTA Systems Ltd.'s, subsidiary and division of IAI, advanced SAR/GMTI Reconnaissance systems. In addition, the solution will provide the ability to perform advanced functions such as mission planning, battlefield management, terrain analysis and simulation modeling, both before and during intelligence-gathering operations.

The lease of three to five Heron TPs will cost roughly €600 million (US $650 million), with the deployment's start scheduled for 2018, government sources disclosed. The contract is to be concluded by the end of this year. Apparently, the UAVs are to be stationed initially in Israel for training purposes, but a relocation to an air base in northern Germany is planned in the long run. However, in case of problems with the registration, a deployment in Israel seems to be possible.
