Prema dobro dokumentovanom...
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/AirframeDossier.php?Serial=57534
The Spitfire now wears the No 71 Eagle Squadron codes XR-D and the markings of P7308, a Spitfire Mk IIa. The markings are those of Pilot Officer William R. Dunn, an early American ace, credited with downing five Luftwaffe aircraft between May and August 1941. Dunn was badly wounded in an accident in P7308 at North Weald on 27 August 1941...Praktično, Mk Ia u ulozi Mk II...

Citat:Spitfire F.1A (aka PR VI) X4492, along with X4555 and R7143, were shipped to Canada in very early 1943. They made their first flight in April of 1943 and did some minor photo testing with No. 13 Squadron at Rockcliffe and stayed there until 1947. In July of 1945 X4492 was flown to Winnipeg by Tom Percival for Operation Eclipse. No. 13 had sent X4492 and a B-25 and their Anson to photograph this full eclipse at high altitude (35K). The photos later appeared in LIFE magazine (November 1945). https://www.facebook.com/CanadianAviationInColours.....416398126/

"OSVETNIK 5. OFANZIVE" i "OSVETNIK V OFENZIVE".

Citat:The Spitfire, one of the few aircraft to serve with the USAAF and never be given a type number.
In WW 2, over 600 British Supermarine Spitfires (like this photo recce PR Mk XI, based at Mount Farm with the 8th Air Force) served in both European and Mediterranean theatres. https://twitter.com/clark_aviation/status/1323354194468696064
