Citat:Lockheed Martin (Hall 6, Stand K201) is now introducing another major change to the system that not only places the main constituents into a new High Reliability Turret installation, but also replaces the daylight sensor group with a more capable system called M-DSA (modernised day sensor assembly). The previous DSA was a monochrome unit with two selectable fields of view (4° and 0.9°).
M-DSA not only sports full-colour high-definition capability, but adds a near-infrared (NIR) channel for low light conditions.
The system also offers three fields of view: medium (9.32°), narrow (2.5°) and ultra-narrow (0.64°). The medium and narrow fields are identical to those offered by the accompanying M-NSA (modernised night sensor assembly), allowing a blending of imagery between the two systems.
Technology from Lockheed Martin’s Sniper XR targeting pod has been incorporated, the ‘XR’ algorithm suite providing longer-range image resolution, and the ability to present a picture-in- picture display of detailed imagery.
Other features of the M-DSA are the addition of an inertial measurement unit to improve stability, and therefore effective range, a laser pointer marker, and adoption of an eye-safe laser to allow both operations and training to be undertaken in environments previously denied to the Apache for laser use. At the same time, the system has been made more maintainable, with the ability to perform some tasks on the flightline. This results in reduced costs and increased availability.
Citat:Boeing has confirmed mutiple deals with the UK including a $2.3 billion deal with the UK MoD for 50 AH-64E Apaches for the British Army, which are due to enter service in 2022. The first UK helicopters are due off the US production line in early 2020, it was announced at the Farnborough International Airshow 2016 (FIA 2016).
MBDA proposes Brimstone derivative for future UK Apache AH-64E Citat:European missile house MBDA is proposing a spirally developed version of its latest Brimstone precision-guided weapon as the primary multirole armament for the British Army's future Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopter.
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 11 July confirmed that the army will acquire 50 new AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters under a USD2.3 billion Foreign Military Sales contract agreed between the UK and US governments. The AH-64E is expected to enter service with the Army Air Corps in 2022.
The latest spiral development of Brimstone - designated 'Brimstone 2' in UK Royal Air Force (RAF) service - has now entered service with the RAF's Tornado GR4 multirole combat aircraft, and going forward will equip the Typhoon FGR4 aircraft from December 2018 and Reaper MQ-9A remotely piloted aircraft system.

Citat:Chief Warrant Officer 3 David A. Gibbs, 38, and a native of Massillon, Ohio, and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kevin L. Reichert, 28, and a native of Chetek, Wis., were AH-64 Apache pilots with 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, who died when they crashed near Tirana, Albania, May 5, 1999. The two pilots were leading a nighttime mission when their aircraft suddenly experienced mechanical failure and plummeted to the ground.
Citat:The AH-64 helicopter was 70 kms (40 miles) north-east of the capital Tirana on Wednesday when it came down at 1.30am local time. The Pentagon said there were no reports to suggest it had come under attack.
Task Force Hawk spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Garrie Dornan, said they were investigating reports that some of the ammunition on board the helicopter had exploded, though he would not say whether it was before or after the crash.
There have been reports that the aircraft might have hit power lines

Apache helicopter crashes in Albania
Citat:The US is investigating why a fully-armed Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopter crashed and exploded during a training operation in Albania.
An army spokesman said the state-of-the-art American aircraft was not under attack when it went down on Monday night.
The badly shaken two-man crew suffered minor injuries and were evacuated to the 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital at Tirana airport.
Witnesses said the helicopter's tail appeared to drop moments before the crash, which was followed by a clearly visible explosion.
The area was sealed off while the thousands of rounds of ammunition and dozens of missiles on board were made safe.
