Algeria to get another 360 upgraded BMPs
Citat:Russia's KBP Instrument Design Bureau has started to fulfil the second part of a contract to upgrade Algerian BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), according to Vladimir Popov, the director general of the KBP subsidiary Shcheglovsky Val.
"Previously, more than 400 upgraded BMP-1s were delivered to Algeria," Popov told the TASS news agency. "KBP has started to carry out the second part of the contract, which is of the same size, about 360 combat vehicles." The contract is expected to be completed in the next two or three years.
Popov said the BMP-1s are being upgraded with the Berezhok combat module, which is armed with four 9M133 Kornet-E anti-tank guided missiles and an AGS-30 30 mm automatic grenade launcher in addition to the 30 mm 2A42 main gun used on the BMP-2 IFV and the standard PKT 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun. The Berezhok upgrade also includes a new fire-control system and optics.
The modernisation of the BMP-1s is being carried out at an Algerian armour repair plant with the assistance of Russian technicians.

Nemci odobrili isporuku BMP-1 za Irak
Berlin Clears Delivery of BMP-1s to Iraq
Citat:Germany has approved the delivery of 280 Russian-designed Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV) BMP-1 to Iraq. The IFVs had been obtained by the Bundeswehr, the German Armed Forces, after German unification in 1990.
The armaments director in the German defense ministry, Lt Gen Benedikt Zimmer, signed a letter to a Czech company authorising the sale to Iraq. The letter has been obtained by Augen Geradeaus.net.
After taking over the Nationale Volksarmee, the armed forces of East Germany, the Bundeswehr overhauled the fighting vehicles. A number of those was given to Sweden und subsequently sold to a Czech company. As usual, Germany as the country of origin always had a say in proliferation of the BMPs.
After the company in Prague had requested approval of a sale of 280 BMP-1 to Iraq in 2013 and again in 2014, the German government decided in March to approve the delivery.
