Citat:VT-72M4CZ armoured recovery vehicle, which was created by modernization of the VT-72B ARV to increase unification with the T-72M4CZ MBTs. Since 2007, three of these tanks have been in service with the 73rd Tank Battalion, 7th Mechanized Brigade.
The tank weighs 51.5t and thanks to a new powerpack, can develop speeds of up to 66km/h on the road and 44km/h off-road. It is powered by a Perkins Condor CV-12-1000 TCA engine with 746kW at 2300 rpm, and uses an Allison XTG-411-6-N automatic transmission.
Ballistic protection was increased by the installation of DYNA-72 ERA. The armament consists of a 12.7x108mm NSVT machine gun and the crew is armed with CZ Bren 2, two RPG-75 anti-tank weapons and with grenades.
The tank is also equipped with a 19t crane, a winch with a 300kN pulling force (up to 900kN when using two pulleys), an auxiliary winch with a pulling force of 10kN, a coil assembly with a pulling force of 200kN and a plough.
With the acquisition of German Leopard 2A4 (and in the future also Leopard 2A8) tanks, the VT-72M4CZ will be operated side by side with the Bergepanzer 3 Büffel ARVs, and subsequently, after the complete rearmament of the battalion, they will most likely be placed in mobilisation depots, or will be sent to Ukraine together with the T-72M4CZ tanks.
