Cutaway Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-9 The first jet fighter of the Soviet firm after taking over the technology of German BMW 003 and Jumo 004 jet engines created after discarding the N-250 fighter design also known as MiG-13 this was powered by a Klimov P-107 that drove a compressor and sent air to a set of combustion chambers for a brief period, did not see large production numbers. At the end of the war, the Soviet Union was concerned about the advances in jet engines both by the defeated Nazis and by the Western allies (USA and England). This is how Stalin entrusts the design of modern jet aircraft to his fighter design and construction bureaus, responding to all the firms: Lavochkin, Sukhoi, Yakovlev and MiG, the latter being the ones that presented designs in 1946, Yakovlev first presented his Yak -15 but the first flight was authorized to the MiG-9 prototype even though earlier the Yak-15 had been denied the maiden test flight permit…! The initial flight took place not without novelties since both fighters were built in record time and had multiple flaws, especially the MiG product, I give my opinion since the lightest and simplest Yak-15 was actually a Yak-3 al that the piston engine had been removed and instead the adaptation was made to receive a Jumo 004 engine (without major complications) and later known as 010, the risks were much lower than those faced by the MiG design office with its proposal, a larger and heavier twin-engine fighter, a novel concept in general but which showed a lot of the Soviet constructive philosophy "Simplicity" is that when comparing both products with those developed in the West, with France now incorporated into the race, the Soviets were left behind these. However, despite the immaturity of both Soviet designs, they were accepted for testing and rapid evaluation. Later production would start, not without many problems, especially with the new MiG-9, quality problems in the assembly, vibrations, structural with torn tail surfaces and in other cases twisted, one of these failures caused death during a flight demonstration of the test pilot who did not comply with the indications not to make sudden maneuvers with the fighter losing control after the detachment of a surface of a fairing that disabled the tail surfaces with tragic consequences. Put into production with a heavy armament that included a 57mm cannon that was discarded due to reactor shutdown problems, being replaced by the 37mm Nudelman N-37 that did not prevent the same problem from continuing to affect it, different solutions were created to prevent the gases from the burned gunpowder from shutting down the engines due to lack of oxygen, gas extractors were seen installed in a long vertical fin that sought to move the gases away from the air intake but these were destroyed after a few bursts of use , the plane was a compendium of original ideas, two engines close together under the fuselage and with the pilot sitting right on top of them (far from the more traditional idea of mounting them under the plans (Me-262, Gloster Meteor, Su-9 /11), an important fact to reiterate the simplicity of the MiG design, although much heavier than the Yak-15, its approximate empty weight of 3500 Kgs. was on a par with western piston fighters and below the weight of modern twin-engine jets. Few units of the MiG-9 "Fargo" (name given by NATO) were produced, only a few hundred and were used only by the Soviet Union and China, however, this was not without reason for different versions and developments, including the two-seater and in the latest deliveries of versions armed with 4 side guns and raised cockpit with greater visibility, with a recently created ejection seat (Already tested in the two-seater version). This speculative cutaway created following multiple black and white photographs, screenshots of the few videos available in order to recreate as accurately as possible this cut, which happens to be the first made in the classical technique beyond the original drawings (somewhat rough) from the manufacturer for their manuals.
