The funeral of Montenegrin Commander Petar “Pero” Ćetković, of the 3rd Shock Division, National Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments of Yugoslavia takes place in Nevesinjsko polje. Carrying the casket include: Ćetković’s father Toma Ćetković, Major General Sava Kovačević (who would be killed in battle with the Italians two months later) and political commissar of the division General Radomir Babić. Commander Ćetković was mortally wounded by an enemy Fascist Italian airplane that opened fire on him and hist staff in the town of Trebinje in the Axis puppet state of the Independent State of Croatia as they were planning the liberation of Nevesinje, located in the historical region of East Herzegovina. On 28 March 1943, two days after he was wounded, Ćetković died and Nevesinje was retaken by the Yugoslav Partisans. By a decree of the Supreme Headquarters of the Partisans on 30 April 1943, Ćetković was made a National Hero of Yugoslavia and posthumously given the rank of Major General.
