India Hopes to Sign Rafale Deal By August, May Buy 20 More Later

Citat:India is unlikely to buy more than 36 French Rafale fighters as of now, less than one-third of the 126 jets that were envisaged under the now-scrapped $20 billion MMRCA (medium multi-role combat aircraft) project.

But another 20 Rafale jets might be procured at a later stage to make a total of three squadrons, much like what was done in the acquisition of Mirage-2000s from France in the mid-1980s.

India hopes to ink the deal for the direct purchase of the first 36 fighters in "a flyaway condition" by around August, following which the fighters are to be delivered over the next two years.

Indian Rafale Cost Criticism Raises Doubts on MMRCA

Citat:India's criticism of a high price tag on the Dassault Rafale has sharpened public focus on French negotiations to extend sale of the twin-jet fighter beyond a planned 36 units for the Indian Air Force.

Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar fueled speculation about the final size of the Rafale order May 31 when he said the French fighters were "way too expensive" and there was no longer a plan to buy a total of 126 Rafales.

But Dassault Aviation Chairman Eric Trappier said the 126-jet deal "is under discussion," although he admitted progress is slow.

Swedish Minister to Offer India Gripen NG

Sweden proposes to build Gripen under 'Make in India' as France falters on Rafale

Sweden's Saab has clawed its way back into the race to equip the Indian Air Force's ageing squadrons after Prime Minister Narendra Modi struck a pact to buy 36 French Rafale planes, instead of 126 originally planned, to cut costs.
Saab has offered to produce its single-engine Gripen plane locally under Modi's "Make-in-India" programme, after an earlier version was passed over in favour of the French aircraft.

Avioni se dopunjuju. Tejas može da nosi rusko i izraelsko naoružanje dok Gripen nosi zapadno i ima bolji radar. Osim toga Tejas još neće skoro u redovnu štancu.

Koji ce im Gripen kad imaju Tejas i MkII. Gripen im nece prodati nista, lokalno sklapani Gripen je iznad 60 miliona, a Tejas je ispod 25. Jasno su rekli da nece da bacaju pare.
