Citat:Czech aircraft manufacturer Aero Vodochody and combat aviation training specialist, Draken Europe have announced the signing of a cooperation agreement to support the Red Air Aggressor Training Service (IRAATS) project of the British Royal Air Force (RAF). The agreement was announced during The Royal International Air Tattoo airshow, held at RAF Fairford from 15–17 July 2022. Draken Europe’s L-159E eight-aircraft fleet will soon begin flying as the “adversary/aggresor“ of the best pilots of the British Armed Forces to start implementing a recently signed agreement between Draken Europe and the RAF.

Citat:The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is seeking commercial contractors to deliver Next Generation Red Air (NGRA) pilot training for the Royal Air Force (RAF).
A tender posted by the ministry in mid-March said the effort is part of a wider modernisation of the UK's air training infrastructure taking place under Portfolio Mustang, and “is paramount to building and/or keeping maximum combat effectiveness in the air domain”.
“NGRA has an outline objective to provide red air (RA) services to the RAF for a period of up to 15 years from circa 2028,” the MoD said, noting that this represents Project 1 of Portfolio Mustang.

The A-4 AAF represents a significant upgrade in training capabilities for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Each aircraft is outfitted with Top Aces’ cutting-edge Advanced Aggressor Mission System (AAMS), an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, and tactical datalink functionalities. This advanced configuration enables the A-4 AAF to realistically replicate the performance and sensor capabilities of modern “near-peer” adversary aircraft, providing a more challenging and operationally relevant training environment for RCAF pilots.

The inaugural training mission involved an A-4 AAF teaming up with a formation of Alpha Jets to conduct air combat maneuvers in support of RCAF CF-18 pilots stationed at 4-Wing Cold Lake, Alberta. This combined force approach not only provided a realistic multi-threat scenario for the fighter pilots but also showcased the versatility of Top Aces’ aggressor fleet.
