Claims and counter claims over crashed aircraft
Citat:Mystery surrounds reports that a Libyan jet fighter plane was shot down and crashed yesterday just near the border with Tunisia. The Tunisian news agency TAP has quoted an unnamed senior Tunisian security official saying that a plane belonging to Libya Dawn crashed just five kilometres inside Libya, adding that it may have been shot down by the Libyan National Army.
Tunisia’s Radio Tataouine also reported but it said it had happened 15 kilometres from the border.
For his part, the Libyan National Army’s spokesman, Colonel Ahmed Masmari, has said that a Aero L-39 Albatros trainer aircraft, converted by Libya Dawn to launch missiles, had been shot down as it was trying to attack Wattiya airbase.
In Tripoli, however, Libya Dawn has denied losing any aircraft. Also, a photo purporting to be of the burned-out aircraft does not look like an Aero L-39 Albatros. Indeed, it does not look like any aircraft belonging to Libyan air force.
The head of the air force Saqr Adam Geroushi said that he had not heard about the crash but would check on it.
