That's pretty hard to believe unless you are talking about the .17 Remington instead of the .17 HMR. Unless you had your scope set to be about 30" high at 100 yards, that drop is unrealistic. The drop at 200 yards is over 8 inches, and with a 17 grain bullet and the loss of energy occuring so rapid, the drop at 300 yards would be near 3 foot!

Now, if you suggest at 150 yards, that's another story.

In general, the .22 LR and the .17 HMR have two very different uses. The .22 LR is best suited for small game at under 50 or so yards. Great on squirrel, rabbits, etc. The .17 HMR is better suited for longer range shots on small vermin such as ground squirrels, prairie dogs, etc. Its effective range can be stretched, but much beyond 150 yards sees a significant drop in performance.

For target shooting, the .17 HMR is really a fun cartridge to shoot. Its extremely accurate and works well at ranges beyond the .22 LR. But, on the other hand, the .22 LR is a fantastic plinking cartridge and very cheap to shoot. In comparison, you can get about 500 rounds of .22 LR ammo for about the same price as 50 rounds of .17 HMR.

Both are great cartridges, but I feel they are different purposes. NOW, if you are thinking about the .22 Mag versus the .17 HMR, that's a whole nother debate....

Meni je trenutno zanimljiviji 17 HM2 jer 17 HMR je nastao suzavanjem metka 22 Magnum na 4,5 kalibar dok je 17 HM2 direktna 4,5 verzija legendarnog i omiljenog 22 lr Wink
