Citat:KINGDOM OF YUGOSLAVIA ( KRALJEVINA JUGOSLAVIJA )
ARMY FLAG ( VOJNA ZASTAVA )
VERY ULTRA ULTRA RARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FLAG OF THE ROYAL YUGOSLAVIAN ARMY
Beautiful military regimental flag very detailed, heavy flag with 3 layers and hand sewn ( Pukovska Zastava ) with royal emblem of Yugoslavia and inscription in both Cirillica & Latinica " With faith in God, for the King and the Fatherland " On both sides Obverse and Reverse. These flags played a very important role in our history. On the 6th september 1930 King Aleksandar I of Jugoslavija carried out the changing of the regimental flags at Belgrade, every regiment ( Puk ) of the Royal Yugoslavia Army received the new flag which acted as a symbol of unity in the army of Serbs, Croats & Slovenes as Yugoslavs. Originally each flag had 2 ribbons. One ribbon had the name of the regiments such as 5. Konjicki Puk Kraljica Marija or 36. Pesadijski Puk Jelacic etc etc. And the other ribbon had the King's monogram in gold. These regimental flags played important ceremonial roles on many special occasions, festivities, military manouveres and when the particular regiment celebrated its SLAVA according to Serbian Orthodox traditions. On the 27th March when the world was engulfed in war - patriotic Royal Yugoslav Army units carried out a coup against the pro Nazi Prince-Regent Paul and in favour of the young pro Allied 17 y.o King Peter II. Royal Yugoslav troops proudly carried the regimental flag through Belgrade to the cheers of the adoring overjoyed population. In April 1941 Hitler invaded the little Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the last free state on the continent of Europe, many brave Yugoslav soldiers and officers risked their lives to save some of the regimental flags. On the 11th May 1941, the broken units of the Royal Yugoslav Army regrouped at Ravna Gora and defiently raised one of these flags which became the first free resistence in Nazi occupied Europe under Col. Dragoljub ( Draza ) Mihailovic and his Chetnik units swearing to carry on the fight against the invader in the name of God, King Peter II and all the peoples of Yugoslavia until victory was achieved - acting as a beacon of hope and freedom in conquered Europe they became the heroes of the Serbian People and the free world! Today t are only 3 flags surviving in museums in Serbia, Croatia & Slovenia.
