Citat:The U.S. Department of Justice announced on Thursday the arrest of Jian Zhao and Li Tian, both active-duty soldiers with the U.S. Army stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, along with Ruoyu Duan, a former U.S. Army soldier, following indictments by federal grand juries in the District of Oregon and the Western District of Washington. Tian and Duan have been charged in the District of Oregon for conspiring to commit bribery and theft of government property, while Zhao has been charged by the Western District of Washington with conspiring to obtain and transmit national defense information to an individual not authorized to receive it, and also for bribery and theft of government property.

According to inditement in Oregon, beginning around November 28th, 2021, Duan and Tian along with others, known and unknown, conspired with each other to surreptitiously gather sensitive military information related to the United States Army’s operational capabilities, including technical manuals and other sensitive information about the “Bradley” and “Stryker” IFVs, and that Tian transmitted this information to Duan in return for money, in violation of his official duties as an active-duty U.S. Army officer.

According to the inditement in Washington, beginning in July 2024, Jian Zhao, an active-duty U.S. Army Supply Sergeant, conspired with others known and unknown to obtain and transmit national defense information to individuals based in China. This information included several classified hard drives marked both “SECRET” and “TOP SECRET” for which Zhao was provided $10,000. Zhao is further alleged to have conspired to sell an encryption capable computer that was stolen from the U.S. Government, and sensitive U.S. military documents and information, related to the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), and information related to U.S. military readiness in the event of a conflict with the People’s Republic of China.

Attorney General Pamela J. Bondi stated following their arrest, “The defendants arrested today are accused of betraying our country, actively working to weaken America’s defense capabilities and empowering our adversaries in China. — They will face swift, severe, and comprehensive justice.”

Dobili nove oklopnjake Stryker i JLTV
US Army Receives First Strykers, JLTVs Under Modernization Effort in Pennsylvania
Citat:The vehicles were accepted by the Horsham-based 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team (Independence Brigade), which is one of the army’s nine Stryker operators and the first Stryker brigade in the reserve component.
Strykers included in this effort consist of new and upgraded “double-V” hulls to deflect enemy mine and explosive impact away from the vehicle, bolstering lethality and personnel security in the field.
Meanwhile, the JLTVs in the package will replace the brigade’s “soft-skin” M1097 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs or Humvees).
In total, a mix of 324 new and upgraded Strykers as well as 300 JLTVs will be delivered to the combat team.

The ONA, which only accounts for roughly $10-20 million in defense spending per year, was shuttered by the Pentagon on Thursday, suggesting that the office would be restructured and then possibly reopened in the future with a new focus on the country’s “most pressing national security challenges.” Most recently, the ONA was focused on planning U.S. strategy for a full-scale war in China, which some officials have suggested could be coming by 2027, with the office having established a concept called Air-Sea Battle, which envisioned an initial “blinding campaign” by U.S. Air Force stealth bombers and submarines that would knock out China’s long-range surveillance radars followed by a larger naval assault by the Army, Navy and Marine Corps.

Schweizer S-333 Positioned as a Potential U.S. Army Training Helicopter
Citat:Schweizer RSG, the American company that revived production of the S-300 light helicopter family after acquiring it from Sikorsky in 2018, is considering entering the Flight School Next program for the U.S. Army.
Currently, Schweizer produces only the S-300C and S-300CBI models with piston engines. However, the company’s plan to resume production of the turbine-powered S-333 has generated significant interest, as it could serve as a potential replacement for the twin-engine UH-72 Lakota currently used for pilot training.
