The value of the contract will be PLN 6.5 billion /EUR 1.5 billion/.
Unfortunately, the contract covers only 111 vehicles of the first tranche, and the Polish MOD claims that there is simply no money for more.
Apart from the fact that there was money for a similar number of AH-64 Apache, which are several dozen times more expensive, there is still one more problem with this issue. The European Union has established a mechanism called SAFE (Security Action for Europe). Within its framework, member states will be able to borrow up to EUR 150 billion for the purchase of weapons. These funds can be borrowed on exceptionally favorable terms. For the first 10 years, only interest will have to be repaid, which will probably constitute 2-3 percent of the loan value, and the repayment of the capital will be spread over 35 years. This means that the total repayment of these loans will be spread over 45 years. The Polish government could fight for favorable loans from this mechanism to buy a larger number of Borsuk IFVs, especially since the ''design authority'' is in the hands of the Polish HSW and over 65% of the value is manufactured in the countries of the European Union.
