Iran to unveil upgraded domestically manufactured tanks
The Islamic Republic of Iran will be unveiling upgraded versions of two domestically designed and manufactured battle tanks this week.
The Zolfaqar and Samsam tanks will be put on display on Monday as part of the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations commemorating the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The commander of the Iranian Army, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, and a number of other high-ranking military officials will be attending the unveiling ceremony.
On January 15, Pourdastan said that the fire control system and the stabilizer of the new version of the Zolfaqar tank have been upgraded, adding that the tank will be mass-produced after receiving the approval of the office of the chief of the general staff of the armed forces.
Iran’s Zolfaqar tank has a distinctive box-shaped, steel-welded turret and is operated by a crew of three.
The tank is armed with a 125mm smoothbore 2A46 gun, which is fitted with a fume extractor. Its secondary armament consists of a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun and a 12.7mm machine gun.
The Samsam tank is said to be an upgrade of the M-60A1 battle tank.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.
Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
TEHRAN, Feb.2 (MNA) – The President of Iran’s Space Agency (ISA) says Iranian Nahid satellite will be unveiled in February, 2nd 2013 (today), Iran’s National Space Technology Day.
Hamid Fazeli said that Islamic Republic’s president will unveil this project.
He also provided comments on Nahid’s features and added that the Agency would launch Nahid by Safir- 1B rocket launcher to space.
Fazeli pointed to Nahid’s main feature as being imaging. “Nahid is the only satellite with folding solar panels,” he added. “All Iranian made satellites had panels fixed on themselves. Nahid’s panels provide folding capability,” he asserted.
He maintained that technology used in Nahid was unique, and that Nahid would have a perigee of 250Km, and an apogee of 370Km.
Fazeli also said that Iran has been working to develop more advanced and capable rocket launchers, adding that “Simorgh is the result of such attempts, and Qoqnoos (Phoenix) rocket launcher will be also developed in the future.”
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has constructed the country’s first hypersonic wind tunnel for testing missiles and doing aerospace research.
“The IRGC has, for the first time in the country, built a hypersonic wind tunnel [operating] at the speed of more than eight Mach,” said IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad-Ali Jafari on Sunday.
He made the remarks at the unveiling ceremony of the device at Tehran’s Imam Hussein (PBUH) University.
The construction of the wind tunnel is a great achievement because it is used for testing missiles and aerospace research, he added.
The IRGC commander stated that Iran’s previous wind tunnels operated at the speed of lower than one Mach and the country had to send its missile abroad for testing.
In addition to reducing expenses, the new hypersonic tunnel enables the country to protect information pertaining to indigenously-designed and -built missiles, Jafari pointed out.
The news comes a day after Iran unveiled its new indigenously-designed and developed fighter jet, Qaher-313 (Conqueror-313), which is ‘ultra-advanced’ and capable of ‘evading radars’.

Postoji još praznika kada se organizuju parade kao što je "sacred defence" sedmica u kojoj obilježavaju završetak rata,tkodje ima dan armije,dan IRGC...tako da godišnje bude po 3-4 parade,največa je u Aprilu.
