Probably not till 2015 at the earliest. And its effectiveness depends on what type of technology it is based on. If its based on Russian or Chinese.
Iran's first S-300's will be less effective than even the newer S-300 models. However, the subsequent generations will quickly improve on it as Iran gets a better grasp at developing the technology.
However, even an Iranian S300 that is 70% as capable as the lastest S300 is a huge boost to Iran's air defense because unlike the Russian S-300, there will be limited intelligence on the Iranian S300 and no known exploits. Where as the Russia's S-300 that has been exported to numerous countries has been tested and its flaws been revealed. That doesn't mean the Iranian system won't have weaknesses, it just means that countries will not know about them until they confront them or gain intelligence.Citat:Russian S-300 has capability to destroy aircrafts, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. Irans needs long range air defence missile, but at this moment anti ballistic missiles arent in highest priority. Iran has developed Mesbah-1 and Samwat AA guns to destroy crise missiles.
Iran has S-200 and Sayyad-1 (Copy of S-75, modernised by Iran.) missiles that has capability to destroy palnes in long range and altitudes over 15km. Those systems requires much modernisation of radaras, because of modern fighters and bombers ECM and stealth capabilities.
When Iran developes missiles to their Bavar-373 the most urgent is to have missile that has long range (at least 100-150km) and high altitude (over 15km). Practically this means, that when plane is far away from missiles launching point the missile uses semi active radar hoaming (like in S-200) or command guide (like in some S-300 missiles) and in terminal phase active radar homing (like in S-200 and in some S-300).
In S-300 system there are also missiles that use Track-via-missile hoaming. Iran may not have (yet) skill to manufacture these kind of missiles. Using Track-via-missile guidance, it is more difficult to jam or spoof the tracking signal. This is important is war against US or Israel starts.
Iran has developer Sayyad-1A (copy HQ-2 that is copy of S-75) missile ,that has IR tracking. HQ-2 and Sayyad use command guidance, but with Sayyad-1A IR guidance takes control over command guidance when enemy´s plane is close enough. What is "close enough"? 10km? 30km? If this command guidance + IR guidance works well, this guidance type may be used in Bavar-373 also. Nowadays it is hard to jam IR missiles. Detection of stealth planes is diffucult, but stealth planes engines are very hot and those can be detected.
It is very much unknown what kind of radars Iran is going to use with Bavar-373. Belarus has sold S-300´s parts to Iran, but where radars allso supplied? Iran has VHF radars like NEBO, but those are for early warning. Missile guidance radar required. If Iran cant get S-300´s radars, like 96L6E CHEESE BOARD, from Russia or Belarus they must develop their own radar. S-200 uses 5N62 (NATO: Square Pair) radar and Hawk/Mersad uses HPIR - High Power Illuminating Radar (also other radars are used). If Iran developes own radars to Bavar-373 thay may base to those two radars.
Iran has build first prototype of Bavar-373 in November 22, 2011 and developing continues. It is very interesting to see what kind of system is, when it is in service.

Ma imaju oni sistema tog ranga to ima veču vrjednost kao uvid u tehnologiju kad imaš dosta kvalitetni različiti sistema možeš sa svakog iskoristiti po nešto u razvijanju svojih.
To je i onako sistem kratkog dometa gdje nisu deficitarni imaju TOR, PANTSIR, RAPIER, CROATLE/FM 80/90, RBS 70,TIGER CAT/SEA CAT ,MANPADS ...dosta prizvode i sami, i oni su pokriveni do 75 km po daljini i 25 km po visini da to upotpune fali im sistem dugog dometa 100km i više po daljini i do 30km po visini gdje jedino imaju S-200.

Za vrjeme rata s Irakom i takodje poslje tokom devedesti,oni su do prije par godina trošili ogromne pare na naoružanje i za mnogo isporuka se i nezna ni šta je kupovano ni gdje.
Ja sam postavio fajl u pdf gdje su sve poznate nabavke naoružanja ili počinjanja proizvodnje od '80-te do 2010 i ko ga je pročitao osto je isplaženog jezika iako tu dobar dio i nije uveden jer su tu samo zvanično objavljeni podaci.
