TEHRAN, July 23 (MNA) -- Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi has assured the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee that Iran will receive compensation from Russia since the Kremlin, under a pressure from the West and Israel, reneged on a contract to sell the S-300 missile system to Iran, MP Hossein Naqavi said on Sunday.
Naqavi stated that the defense minister also briefed MPs on the parliamentary committee about the production of long-range missiles, military sovereignty over Iran’s 20 percent share of the Caspian Sea, and the repulsion of the West’s cyber attacks against the Islamic Republic.
Naqavi, who is the rapporteur of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told reporters that Vahidi also elaborated on the Defense Ministry’s plans to build long-range missiles.
“Brigadier General Vahidi announced that the move (construction of long-range missiles) has started, with a reliance on our scientific and technological expertise and successes have been made,” the MP added.

Iran Deploys Home-Made Missile System in All Air-Defense Units
Senior Iranian military officials announced on Monday that the country's latest home-made missile system, Sayyad 2, has been deployed in all air-defense units across the country.Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli told FNA that the new air-defense system would boost the capabilities of Iran's air-defense units to a large degree. As regards the capabilities of the new missile system, Esmayeeli stated that the system will "increase the range, altitude and tracking and interception power of the country's missile shield".
"Its upgraded and digitalized system has increased the power and precision of Sayyad 2 missile system," the commander reiterated.Iran successfully test-fired its latest air-defense missile system, Sayyad 2, last month.Iran had earlier unveiled Sayyad 1 surface-to-air missile which is a two-staged air defense missile that is capable of destroying targets with low Radar Cross Section (RCS) at low and medium altitudes. The system enjoys the capability to defuse jamming and electronic warfare attacks. Sayyad 2 is an upgraded version and enjoys higher precision, range and destruction power compared with its previous version.
Esmayeeli had earlier this month announced that Iran has a comprehensive plan to strengthen its air defense capability by using a combination of various missile defense systems for different altitudes."We are working on strengthened air-defense citadels, and we make use of all systems for all altitudes to keep these citadels strong," he told reported early May.The commander added that the Iranian air defense unit can cover an area, at least, 80,000 feet in altitude.
In April, 2011,Iran successfully test-fired two mid-range Hawk missiles named 'Shahin' capable of tracing and targeting aggressive aircraft at low and medium altitudes. The two Shahin missiles were launched from a home-made air defense system named 'Mersad'.The Mersad air defense shield is a completely indigenized system developed by the Iranian experts and technicians to promote the country's combat power. The system was deployed in all Army air-defense units on Sunday to boost the country's air-defense power. The Mersad system equipped with Shahin missiles is capable of tracing and targeting any enemy aircrafts at 70 to 150km altitude and is considered as a mid-altitude system among the country's missile defense shields.
SAYYAD-2 medium-to-high altitude surface-to-air missile (SAM) system
The Sayyad-2 static surface-to-air missile system is a further development of the Sayad-1 series, which in itself is a development of the Russian S-75 (NATO SA-2 Guideline) system. The Sayyad 2 is better in precision, range and destruction power. The Sayyad series is also heavily influenced by the Chinese HQ-2 and may benefit from North Korean technology input. Other reports not yet confirmed suggest the updated Sayyad series to be strongly influenced by HAWK and Standard missiles in current Iranian armed forces inventory. The Sayyad-2 was unveiled in April 2011. In May 2011, Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli told FNA (Iranian press agency that the new air-defense system Sayyad-2 has been deployed in all air-defense units across Iran.
In static position, the Sayyad-2 is mounted to a launcher station as the Russian made SA-2 missile. The basic design qualifies as semi-mobile, requiring several hours to set up or redeploy a battery. Each missile is carried by a semi-trailer towed by a Mercedes-Benz 2624 6x6 truck, and needs to be loaded onto a fixed launcher before firing. The loading usually takes about 5 minutes but this really depends on the training and experience of missile operators.
The Sayyad-2 is a two stage guided missile, with a large solid propellant booster stage fitted with four very large delta fins. The warhead of the Sayyad-2 weighs 200 kg and is a HE internally grooved fragmentation type with proximity, contact and command-type fuzing available. The Sayad 2 fligt at 3,600 km/h and has a range of 80 - 100 km and includes ECCM (Electronic Counter-Counter Measures) equipment.
The Sayyad-2 missile, considering it's medium range can be applied for targets, rather in low or high altitude. also it has capability for protecting the economic, political and social centres. Sayyad-2 is capable of destroying targets with low Radar Cross Section (RCS) at low and medium altitudes. The main mission of this missile, can be defined for destruction of bombers and reconnaissance aircraft.
Sayyad 2 air-defense system which has passed the tests in recent days is scheduled to be unveiled in the near future.

Iran to build new indigenous satellite carrier
Iranian officials pose with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (7th L) in front of the indigenous Simorgh (Phoenix) satellite carrier during the unveiling ceremony of the space aircraft in Tehran, February 3, 2010.
The director of Iran's aerospace technology development center has announced that the country will complete the building process of the indigenous satellite carrier Simorgh (Phoenix) by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2013).
Seyyed Mahdi Farahi made the remarks in a press briefing at Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran on Wednesday, adding that the manufacturing work on the satellite that will be mounted on Simorgh is also underway.
Farahi expressed hope that the work on the satellite would also be completed by the end of the year but noted that, considering the sophisticated technical issues involved in the field of aerospace, he cannot mention a specific date for the completion of the project.
He also announced plans to launch the Amirkabir Satellite, a space model of which is currently being built, via the Safir satellite carrier.
Farahi further stated that the aerospace technology development center has started the design work on an amphibious aircraft, adding that it can carry six passengers with the ability to land on and take off from from land and water surfaces.
The Iranian official also stressed that the development of Iran’s aerospace infrastructures is among the main tasks of the center and that the objective is being pursued in all engineering universities across the country.

Iran to Withdraw Complaint if Receives S-300 from Russia
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Seyed Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi announced Tehran's readiness to withdraw its lawsuit against Russia if the latter delivers the complicated S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Iran.
"If the Russian officials agree to deliver the missiles to the Iranian side based on the signed contract between the two countries, Iran will withdraw its compliant," Sajjadi said in an interview with Russian Izvestia newspaper.
Under a contract signed in 2007, Russia was required to provide Iran with at least five S-300 air-defense systems. However, Moscow's continued delays in delivering the defense system drew criticism from the Islamic Republic on several occasions.
Russia has been refusing to deliver the system to Iran under the pretext that the system is covered by the fourth round of UN Security Council resolutions against Iran.
Then-President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree prohibiting the sale of Russian weapons, including S-300s, to Iran in 2010 after the United Nations imposed sanctions against the Islamic republic.
Iran dismissed Russia's justification that the ban on the delivery of the S-300 missile system to Iran was in line with the (US-engineered) UN Security Council Resolution 1929, and stated that this is an air defense system which is not included in Resolution 1929.
Iran then sued Russia for breach of the contract and made Moscow return its advance payment along with its interest fees in May.
Due to the export ban on S-300 exports to Iran, Russia lost about $1 billion dollars.
After Russia annulled the S-300 contract, Iran started making the advanced system domestically. Tehran's defense officials have announced that the early versions of the system will be unveiled as soon as next year.
After shipments of S-300 were stopped in 2009, Iran also canceled talks on buying 40 TU-204 passenger aircraft, which would have added about $3.5 billion of revenue.
Analysts believe that President Vladimir Putin may resume shipments to Iran in retaliation for the US selling weapons to Georgia and at the same time to promote Russia as an arms exporter.
Fifty-five countries including India, China, Venezuela, Syria and the US buy Russian weapons. Sales of new-generation air defense system S-400s to China may begin as early as 2015.

Citat:Iran Test-Fires 4th Generation of Most Precise Home-Made Missile
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announced on Saturday that the country has successfully test-fired the fourth generation of high-precision Fateh-110 missiles.
"The fourth generation of high-precision Fateh-110 missiles with a range of over 300km was test-fired by the defense ministry's aerospace industries organization," Vahidi told reporters in Tehran today.
He said that the new missiles can hit and destroy both land and sea targets, enemy concentration points, command centers, missile sites, ammunition dumps, radars and other targets with 100 percent precision.
Iran successfully test-fired the third generation of Fateh-110 missiles in August 2010.
The Fateh-110 is a short-range, road-mobile, solid-propellant, high-precision ballistic missile with advanced navigation and control systems.
The Iranian defense ministry has made great achievements in designing and producing missiles, including the surface-to-surface solid-fuel Sejjil missiles, the long-range Shahab-3 ballistic missile which has a range of up to 2,000 km, and Zelzal and Fateh missiles.
Iran has been pushing an arms development program in recent years in a bid to reach self-sufficiency. Tehran launched its arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own jet fighters and armored vehicles as well as radar-avoiding missiles and other high-tech weapons.
Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country
