Spomnio sam se na text kanadske guvernerke kad je bila u Sloveniji.
Pa ako modeartorji neću smatrat kao previše offtopic, ja ću prilepit stvar:
Citat: Welcoming Ceremony by the Slovenian Military
Ljubljana, Slovenia, Thursday, October 22, 2009
I wanted to come here to meet with you during my official visit to Slovenia as governor general and commander-in-chief of Canada.
In 2006, some of you (53) were awarded the General Campaign Star in recognition of your remarkable service alongside Canadian troops in Afghanistan.
Today, I ask you to accept the thanks of the Commander-in-Chief of Canada.
It was to help the people of Afghanistan break free from tyranny and oppression that you agreed, in 2003, to assist the Canadian Forces stationed in Kabul, in one of the most unstable areas in the country.
What you set out to defend is the ideal of a fair society, where every individual has equal rights and can live in dignity. It is an ideal that Canada and Slovenia share. It is an ideal to which all peoples should be free to aspire unimpeded.
You made every sacrifice, you overcame every difficulty, you faced every challenge, you confronted every danger with the same spirit of solidarity, with the same sense of duty, with the same degree of commitment as our own soldiers.
I am also very much aware that your mission to Afghanistan was a long one.
We owe a debt of gratitude, to you, certainly, but also to your families, who suffered in your absence. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them.
More than friends, you are brothers, sisters, and you will always have a place in our hearts.
On behalf of all Canadians, on behalf of the Canadian Forces that I am so proud to represent, I thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
And I sincerely hope that these efforts in Afghanistan will bring better days to the women, men and children who have suffered for so long in oppression and misery.
Thank you. We are very proud of you.
