USAF looks to quadruple B-52 external weapons load
Citat:The US Air Force (USAF) is looking to quadruple the weight of bombs that the Boeing B-52H Stratofortress is able to carry externally.
According to a request for information (RFI) issued on 21 June, Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) is seeking a new external weapons pylon that will take the B-52’s current 10,000 lb (4,536 kg) maximum external load (across two underwing pylons) to 40,000 lb (18,144 kg).

dakota ::... postovani pisci, ako vam nije previse tesko, prevedite i donesite zakljucke sami slobodno, bez straha, mozda bismo mi citaoci nesto tu nasli zanimljivo. Ovo linkovanje i kopiranje engledkih tekstova nece bog zna obogatiti temu. Ja licno te tekstove odmah preskocim a mislim i jos mnogi dugi citaoci, pa ispade da se pisac uzalud trudio. Ovo nije zezanje, ovo je molba, zahvaljujem.
ja uso u be-pedes-dva prvi put pre 25 godina , ( ili 23  ?).
i jos mozda dva puta kasnije ali ne u kabinu nego samo oko aviona samo.
secam se samo price domorodaca kako je jedan b-52 uspeo da obori vijetnamskog lovca u toku rata, nisam primetio mitraljeze ili topove , valjda nisu bili modeli naoruzani za odbranu od lovaca.
mozda vecina forumasa nisu imali priliku da razgledaju ovu grdosiju izbliza i da setaju unutar aviona, TTZ - turu vodili piloti i ostali clanovi posade i odgovarali na pitanja, ali bez razlike na "iskustvo" verujem da znam manje nego bolje informisani clanovi ovog foruma. Citajuci na temu, nesto i naucim..

New eyes for an old friend
Citat:The B-52 began production in 1952, and today, there are 76 of the aircraft still serving the nation. Of the U.S. Air Force's three bomber types presently in service, only the B-52 will still be flying in 2050. No other aircraft in Air Force history will be able to claim a century of service.
To keep this airplane effective, the Air Force is upgrading key components: primarily, its radar. The current radar, a hold-over from technology developed in the 1960s, hasn’t been updated since the 1980s. The B-52 will gain new eyes to find and fight the smaller, more agile adversaries of the the digital age.
“The last crew members of the B-52 have yet to be born,” said Pete Bloom, a former B-52 electronic warfare officer and current Raytheon business development lead.
He speaks with the perspective of someone who flew the B-52 when it was already proven. When he came aboard the aircraft as a crew member in the 1980s, it had already logged more than 30 years of service.
Raytheon is harnessing technologies from the F-15’s APG-63(v)3 and APG-82 active electronically scanned array radars, along with the APG-79 from the Super Hornet and Growler, for the B-52 Radar Modernization Program.
