Defense News reports on an unexpected defense crisis in the United States
Citat:Defense News reports, citing a new federal report, that a large number of US warplanes have failed a readiness test.
According to this American magazine, during the inspection process, which was supervised by senior officials, several indicators were verified, including the "mission readiness factor", which determines the number of times the aircraft can take off, the possibility of carrying out at least one of the combat missions.
The article added that the committee tested 49 types of warplanes belonging to the Air Force, the Navy and the Marine Corps. During the inspection, it was found that more than half of the aircraft examined did not meet the technical requirements, despite the fact that the Pentagon spends tens of billions of dollars on their maintenance every year.
For example, in 2020 alone, about $54 billion was spent on the operation and maintenance of warplanes.

The U.S. Air Force signed a contract for the development of a shock reconnaissance hypersonic aircraft
Citat:The U.S. Air Force held a competition, according to the results of which they signed a contract with the American company Leidos to develop a hypersonic aircraft capable of performing reconnaissance and strike functions. And although the work is carried out as part of the secret Mayhem program, the online publication The Drive has become aware of some details of the transaction.
The development company must design and create a multifunctional hypersonic platform capable of carrying various loads for both reconnaissance and strike missions. The Drive reports that the early description of the Mayhem aircraft fully corresponded to what the SR-72 unmanned hypersonic aircraft that Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works division was working on should look like.
