Citat:Cruise missile defense was a major component of the ABMS Onramp #2 experiments beyond these air-to-air engagements. A U.S. Army XM1299 howitzer notably brought down yet another BQM-167 from the ground with a Hyper Velocity Projectile (HVP). The HVP, originally designed to be fired out of the electromagnetic railguns the U.S. Navy and Army have been testing, is now being adapted for use in conventional guns, including 155mm howitzers and five-inch naval guns. A five-inch naval gun on a ground-based test fixture was also present at the recent ABMS test, as was a modified 175mm M107 self-propelled gun that the Army uses for test purposes.

Hoce ga japanci...traze ko ce im pomoci oko toga
Japan seeks foreign help to develop railgun technology
Citat:Japan’s military is currently seeking foreign assistance to develop a railgun, a weapon that uses electromagnetic forces to launch projectiles at incredibly high speeds. The technology is still in its early stages of development, but Japan sees it as an important asset for its military to counteract the threat posed by neighboring countries.
The primary Japanese contractor on the program is Japan Steel Works, a company that specializes in steel production and heavy machinery manufacturing. However, due to the complexity of the railgun technology, Japan has turned to foreign experts to help with the project.
One of the main challenges of developing a railgun is the immense amount of power required to launch a projectile at high speeds. The railgun uses electromagnetic forces to propel a projectile along two parallel rails, which creates an intense magnetic field that accelerates the projectile to incredible speeds. However, this requires a significant amount of power, which can be difficult to generate and manage.
Another challenge is the heat generated by the railgun during firing. The intense friction between the projectile and the rails can cause significant heat buildup, which can damage the rails and surrounding components. Additionally, the heat generated can be a safety hazard for the crew operating the weapon.

Railgun Ammo-Firing Air Defense Artillery Cannon Plans Laid Out By Army
The Army plans to field a highly mobile 155mm cannon firing hyper-velocity projectiles to provide a lower-cost air and missile defense.
Citat:The U.S. Army hopes to start fielding a new air defense system based around a wheeled self-propelled 155mm howitzer, which could use ammunition originally developed for an abortive U.S. Navy electromagnetic railgun, before the end of the decade. The service is pursuing the Multi-Domain Artillery Cannon (MDAC) as a way to further expand its already growing air and missile defense capabilities, especially in expeditionary scenarios and when it comes to defending against increasing cruise missile threats. The goal with MDAC is also to offer a lower-cost alternative to traditional surface-to-air missiles.
The Army’s Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) recently issued a request for information regarding plans to acquire complete MDAC prototypes.
