Australian submarine tender narrows to Japanese and French bids, Germans lose ground-sources

France's state-controlled naval contractor DCNS has proposed a diesel-electric version of its 5,000-tonne Barracuda nuclear-powered submarine.
Prijavili se TKMS-Nemci sa 2,000 tona Type 214, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries sa 4,000-tona Soryu i DCNS-Francuzi sa dizel verzijom Baraccuda podmornicom.
Citat:Japan was slow to commit to build all vessels at South Australian shipyards, a politically significant pledge that both DCNS and TKMS made quickly.
At the same time, DCNS and TKMS pledged to share sensitive technology with the Australian government and promised packages of economic incentives.
Japan je praktično bez iskustva, šta je izvoz vojne tehnologije, Nemci i Francuzi nude prenos tehnologije i radna mesta.

Australci imaju ambicije prema nuklearnoj podmornici.
Francuska podmornica izabrana, jer postoji Barakuda i u nuklearnoj verziji, čiju izgradnju bi francuskim know-howom mogli usvojiti i Australci.

Defence ordered to hand over documents on $50bn submarine deal with French

The defence department has been accused of “unlawful conduct” after it wrongly withheld sensitive documents about Australia’s $50bn submarine deal with a French multinational.

The government’s massive future submarines project has been under intense scrutiny since a French arms manufacturer, DCNS, won the contract in 2016. The project has been described as the largest defence procurement in Australia’s history, but South Australian politicians feared the state’s shipbuilder, ASC, was unfairly shut out of a major role in the work, risking local jobs.

Two years ago, the former senator Nick Xenophon lodged a freedom of information request to attempt to obtain a 2015 document outlining DCNS’s plan for involving local industry.
