Meteor Missile On Target for Delivery This Year

Citat:MBDA has confirmed that production rounds of the Meteor long-range air-to-air missile are scheduled for delivery before year-end. However, MBDA managing director Steve Wadey would not disclose which air force will be the first to get the new missile, which MBDA UK claims represents a “step change in the air-to-air world.” AIN reported last year that French Rafale and Swedish Gripen fighters would be flying operational Meteors ahead of the four Eurofighter nations.

Roleroni koji funkcionišu poput žiroskopa. Zaleću se pomoću gasova iz raketnog motora kroz cevčice. Ovde se vide na slici i cevčice i eleroni.



Sa prirastom brzine, kod rakete se javlja momenat valjanja. Ova raketa nije rotirajuća pa joj valjanje ne treba. Roleron stvara žiroskopski momenat i poništava valjanje, tako da raketa ostaje u željenom položaju.

Sweden is about to start a new round of airborne firings with the MBDA Meteor missile to support the weapon's final integration on Swedish Air Force JAS 39C/D Gripens.

Two missile launches will be conducted by Saab in June and a further three are planned for next year. After two shots by the Saab flight test team in 2014, the fifth and final launch will be conducted by Sweden's Defence Materiel Administration (FMV).

These integration firings are part of the capabilities clearance plan for the next standard of Gripen operational software, known as MS20. Development work for MS20 will be completed in 2014, with the first upgraded aircraft due to enter Swedish service by late 2014 or perhaps early 2015. Along with the Meteor, MS20 will qualify other new weapons for the Gripen.

The Meteor shots will be conducted by Saab's Gripen test aircraft 39-6 at the Vidsel ranges in Sweden. The last Meteor firing by a Gripen was in October 2010. At that time it was hoped that Meteor integration would be completed in 2013, but since then delays in software development for the MS19 standard saw the schedule slip into 2014.
